Mahou Shoujo Site – 11

(Hangyaku no shoujotachi)
“The Rebel Girls”

Well you cannot say MSS still doesnt have a few aces left up its sleeve. While its a good bet at this point the show will end with one hell of a cliffhanger (unless a second season somehow appears from the woodwork), MSS wont be lacking for shockers before then, giving not just one but two surprises this week to cap off the well teased administrator showdown. Sure, one of them may have been coming for a while, but the other? You damn well know you didnt see that coming.

While the site administrations uniqueness has been teased repeatedly up until now, theres no denying the chopped results are probably not what most expected. Magical powers are all fine and dandywe are dealing with magical girls after allbut showing the baddies off to potentially be digital, if not outright machines? Well now thats getting weird. As Tsuyunos reincarnation shows each administrator apparently starts as a magical girl with a specific mindset (if Nanas remarks are any indication), but between there and magical machine intelligence something changes to give us masked crazy and air bullet carnage. The how and why will likely be answered next week (if were lucky, being finale and all), but if this jaw dropper is any indication, the Tempest probably has more to do keeping the administration alive and in charge than bringing about world destruction for sake of destruction alone. If they can be killed a few likely wish to prevent that from happening, and what better way to do so than by purging every potential threat? Might be a little costly, but hey, safety comes first.

The fun of course though is with what happens next for our good girl crew. Vulnerable administrators or not, Tsuyuno is now officially dead (at least for Aya), Sarina is looking a little worse for wear, and its very likely a few others may also be soon discovering what the afterlife looks like. Did we also mention how those magical sticks can apparently be destroyed too? How anyone manages to get out of this situation alive will prove interesting, although its reasonable to assume at minimum Aya will (because protagonist plot armour) and maybe Rina given a lack of crazy faces would be doing this show a serious disservice. Yes, I might be missing my weekly dose of Nijimin. One way or another something will have to give next week to get these girls out of this predicament, although whether it comes down to the power of friendship and magical stick combos or some outside intervention is anyones guess.

With the sheer amount of crazy flying around in MSS, you can bet the ending is going to be off the bloody wall.

And there’s still the issue of Mitsuyoshi and Kaname left up in the air, and then there’s also Magical Girls belonging to the other sites since we have only seen these two groups so far when there’s obviously more than that.

    • Those bits are basically “read the manga” bits given how they have been shown and dealt with. I’d honestly be surprised if we see any more of Kaname now for example, unless his captor winds up being the saviour next week which is a definite possibility.

https://images.randomc.net/Mahou%20Shoujo%20Site/Mahou%20Shoujo%20Site%20-%2011%20-%2021.jpgI believe the Admins can only take physical form using the modified corpses of ex-magical girls, prefably those who died from overusing their sticks. Remember the pile of corpses in front of stasis girl.If the body is cut up or damaged, then the Admins cease operating and the body reverts to its original form. Of course, what the Admins even are to start with is still unexplained even in the manga.

    • It’s what really makes Tsuyuno’s selection all the weirder because if the admins only use deceased magical girls to materialize, why would they bother selecting one to be a new administrator? Something else is going on with them and the answer certainly has to do with what exactly the Tempest is and what it does.

Going by what has happened in the manga all the admins are the same as Tsuyuno is now. The admins aren’t entities that are inhabiting the bodies of the girls but rather ARE the girls after being reprogrammed/brainwashed. When an admin is killed they can be replaced with a newly reprogrammed girl. After their first successful raid when they killed an admin later, after the flashback arc, a new version of the same admin shows up. In the current arc Tsuyuno is conspicuously absent and the new admin just happens to have the power to stop time. So inviting Tsuyuno to be an admin like how they’re doing it in the anime isn’t anything new it’s just that they didn’t bother to dress her up in the admin costume just yet for the sake of clarity and saving time.

So the anime skipped the manga parts where Kanameis repeatedly ass-raped by Misumi, trying to turn him into his personal sex slave. Ironically, Kaname’s twisted egoism is the main thing that keeps him from being mindbroken into a submissive toy.

    • Heh I spoiled myself on that and while being a fitting end, it’s kind of disappointing we don’t see more of him in relation to the main story. The kid has been hyped up as a serious threat after all 😛

Kaname may be playing a bigger role soon, if the latest chapters from Japan are any indication.

“While its a good bet at this point the show will end with one hell of a cliffhanger(unless a second season somehow appears from the woodwork)”They’re definitely aiming for an anime original ending. At first in recent episodes they were just skipping over some details, some minor and some big (like the introduction of an important new magical girl), but this episode essentially rewrote how the encounter with the site admins happened in a major way.In the manga the teams staking out the site admins were reversed, and a MUCH bigger change is that the second admin never showed up and the plan was a resounding success. Without the second admin they’re able to make a big discovery about the “identity” of the admins and plan a second attack which ends up going WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY worse this time and leads to a sort of flashback arc that provides some new characters and background leading up to the present story before things meet up again. One thing they skipped over that I’m particularly miffed about is that in the manga, prior to the girls taking on the site admins, they all share their remaining lifespans with each other which prompts Aya to take Tsuyuno out on a date where they can act like normal school girls. It ends on a touching moment where the two of them tell each other how happy they are that they met and they share a tearful kiss.

    • I’m not too surprised moments like that were cut out given they somewhat dealt with it before (ex. the beach episode), but given how the manga goes it really begs the question how they plan on ending it. Barring some sort of win against Nana and the rest it’s difficult doing anything besides a cliffhanger, and an anime original of that sort would seriously screw with the manga progression. If anything I’m just curious how they wind up working in that comatose magical girl who’s been repeatedly teased, she’s been featured too much to simply ignore at this stage.

  5. I heard boy named makoto chums up with aya in the manga and it’s hinted that they might like each other romantically don’t know how true that is though.
