Spring of the DEAD
After several hiatuses on the manga, an oddly surprising adaptation appeared out of nowhere for HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD, and today, here we are.

(Shizu Naru Yochou)
"A Quiet Omen"
Today marks the start of the normal broadcast of the SEKIREI sequel, which had an early broadcast premiere almost three weeks ago like I mentioned before. As I was busy working on the Summer 2010 Preview at the time, I purposely held off for the cleaner screen captures that you see here.

#14
After four consecutive episodes of the ETU versus Nagoya Gran Palace match, it looks like things are finally taking a break from the nonstop action to set up the next arc of the story.

"The Horizon of a Journey"
I admittedly read the remaining portions of the final chapter of the manga after watching episode 63 last week, so I wasn't in for too many surprises in this epilogue episode. Unfortunately, they didn't add anything new -- such as Ed and Al's reaction to Hohenheim's passing which I would've liked to see -- but the rest of it played out really nicely.

"Under the Sakura Tree / Is It Like This Every Time!? / To Start, Let's Try Undressing"
Well I'm impressed. GoHands may be going with a similar style as Princess Lover in this adaptation of a 4-koma gag manga, but it's still a noticeable step up from their work there.

"Night of the Meteor Shower"
I wasn't planning to post about this series at all, but AIC continues to produce amazing-looking series even when they're taking on five concurrently this season, so I wanted to share some thoughts on their adaptation of Windmill's adult visual novel game.

(Marui-ke! Yoi Ko Warui Ko Osoroshii Ko!!)
"The Marui Family! Good Girl, Bad Girl, Dreadful Girl!!"
Bridge may be a new studio, but makes a strong first impression with their adaptation of the elementary school gag manga centering around the sixth grade Marui triplets -- Mitsuba (Takagaki Ayahi), Futaba (Akesaka Satomi), Hitoha (Tomatsu Haruka).

"I'm Already Wasted"
On the surface, this appeared to be a pretty anticlimactic conclusion to this fairly laid back series, but I just loved how everything came full circle when Masa offered Yaichi a skewer of dangos at the very end.

17 (Ichinen Nanakumi Kanou Soutarou)
"Kanou Soutarou of Year 1 Class 7"
I feel sorry for Kanou Soutarou (Toriumi Kousuke) for hating women for some reason, but his hypnosis on Misaki sure led to some really hilarious and dramatic results with Takumi. Misaki may be highly susceptible to being hypnotized, but she's also a whole lot more fun when she's drunk because of it.
