Bakuman. – 13

(Sokuhou to Hon Chan)
"Early Results And The Real Deal"

I think its happened. Kaya has won me over. I think it might have been her flamboyant attitude, her fashionable clothing, or just the way her hair is done at the end. Whatever it may be, Im glad that she plays a decent role in this series. Besides being Takagis girlfriend, I think it was awfully kind of her to take the role of being Mashiro and Azukis in-between.

Winter 2011 Preview!

The new year is rapidly approaching and the winter anime season along with it, so I'd like to present my detailed look into all the upcoming series. As usual, I plan to watch all the ones that interest me to a certain degree and have listed my intentions in the entries below. This season, I only plan to pick up a couple more shows to blog though, as I'd like to take more time away from the site for personal reasons. The past year has been an ambitious one given the number of shows I covered every season, and it's set some unrealistic long-term expectations on what comes out of the site. Rather than continuing at the feverish pace of 12-16 shows per season, I plan to drop my personal load to a much more reasonable 3-5 shows and take on more in some seasons if time permits. I had only planned to cover four shows this winter, but with STAR DRIVER and To Aru Majutsu no Index II added to my plate, I'm going to make time for six. That will still put me at post a day if I include the Naruto manga, which combined with Kiiragi, Takaii, and Prooof's coverage, means there shouldn't be any noticeable shortage of new content.

Happy Holidays! Please note that this preview will be kept at the top for the next while, so be sure to scroll past it or check the Recent Entries on your right for new posts.

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai – 12 (END)

(Kami Ijou, Ningen Miman)
"Higher than a God, Lower than a Man"

There's no way I can write six posts simultaneously, but it's kind of scary how Keima's zealous attitude towards gaming mirrors my blogging one. In fact, this finale served as an "anime reality check" of sorts, as contradictory as that may sound. From an outsider's perspective, our behaviors may as well be perceived as a case of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls – 12 (END)

(Sayonara no Chuu)
"Goodbye Kiss"

It was a little clich, a tad too overdramatic, and had black and white battle scenes that dragged out for a bit too long, but this climactic finale still left a very good impression on the series as a whole. Surprisingly, the loss of Jubei's innocent personality wasn't emphasized in a remorseful way, and instead became the high point of her final battle with a Amakusa Shirou empowered Gisen.

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo – 12

(Shitsui no Hate Ni ~ Zouo ~)
"The Limits Of Despair ~ Hatred ~"

After such a depressing end to last weeks episode, Im glad that the precursor to the finale ended on such a huge cliffhanger. I cant remember a single arc in this series where I was on the edge of my seat only to get smashed in the face by the ending sequence.

Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector – 12

(Shadou Miraa)
"Shadow-Mirror"

The intermission last time was short-lived, as the battles kick into high gear against the approaching Neo DC forces before quickly coming to a crashing halt when Vindel and Lemon arrive on the scene. Shadow-Mirror's existence is finally revealed to our Earth Federation protagonists, and it comes with the shocking revelation that they have to obey them now that Graien Grusman's seized power.

Shinryaku! Ika Musume – 12 (END)

They aren't allowed to end things off on such a sweet note are they?

(Tatakawanai ka? / Pinchi Janai ka? / Motto Pinchi Janai ka?)
"Won't You Compete? / Isn't This a Pinch? / Isn't This a Major Pinch?"

They may have broken practically every rule in the book when it comes to beach volleyball, but this final episode went all out in a tournament that saw Ika and Eiko as an unstoppable duo. Everyone got involved at some point as well, giving the sense that they were going to go out on a high. That is, until the last two mini episodes headed in a completely different direction with Ika's return to the sea.
