Ozuma – 01

「砂のクジラ」 (Suna no Kujira)
"A Whale of Sand"

It's been a long wait, but Spring's finally here, as well as the new anime season. And so, to start things off, we have the Sci-Fi series, "Ozuma." The first episode comes out a bit generic and has some cliches, but there's definitely some potential here.

**The Season Preview should be out around the end of the week.

Black Rock Shooter – 01

「あとどれだけ叫べばいいのだろう」 (Ato Doredake Sakebeba Ii no Darou)
"I Wonder How Much Longer I Have To Scream For"

The Black Rock Shooter anime is finally here and the most notable difference from its 2010 OVA counterpart is that our heroine "BRS" -- alter ego of Kuroi Mato (Hanazawa Kana) -- gets subjected to a lot of gruesome beatings and takes them all without so much as a whimper.

Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai! – 01

「パパと呼ないで」 (Papa to Yobunaide)
"Don't Call Me Papa!"

I tried writing a witty excerpt, but the only thing I can think about is how cute Hina is.

Update: I can't vouch for this myself since I don't read the LN, but according to the comments from our light novel readers, Papakiki does not have incest. So if that was holding you back from watching, WATCH IT NOW!

BRAVE10 – 01

「運命のふたり」 (Unmei no futari)
"The Destined Pair"

Sometimes, it doesn’t matter who the studio is, who the voice actors are, or what the pedigree behind a show is. All it takes is for a series to feature some of my favorite genres (like BRAVE10’s Sengoku era swordplay) to guarantee that I will be giving it a chance.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou – 01

「男子高校生と放課後、スカート、怪談、同伴少女、文学少女」
(Danshi Koukousei to Houkago, Sukaato, Kaidan, Douhan Shoujo, Bungaku Shoujo)
"High School Boys and After School, Skirts, Ghost Stories, a Female Escort, the Literature Girl."

I don't often try to force a new show on readers, but if you're not watching "The Daily Lives of High School Boys" even after all the good things I said about it in the Winter 2012 Preview, you should start asking yourself why. "Do I not like good shows? Do I not want to watch the funniest show of the season? Do I not want to laugh until it hurts?"

Aquarion EVOL – 01, 02

「終末を抱いた神話的禁じられた合体スペシャル」 (Owari wo Dakiita Shinwateki Kinjirareta Gattai Supesharu)
"The Mythical Forbidden Union that Embraces the End Special"

The sequel to Kawamori Shouji's Sousei no Aquarion arrives seven years later and kicks off with a one-hour special of the first two episodes. Things took off at a feverish pace with the reawakening of the legendary robot Aquarion, complete with the orgasmic-like "gattai" combinations that the original was known for, and quickly shattered the premise where male and female unions are forbidden.
