9-Nine: Ruler’s Crown – Episode 1 Review

It’s not like I wanted to watch 9‑Nine: Ruler’s Crown, but I’m forced to—somebody needs to log how this poor visual novel got rushed into an anime. Episode 1 threw everything at me: earthquakes, mystery girl statues, cosplay drama, ghost pins, sister eviction, haunted dolls, and park horrors. If that wasn’t enough, a new earthquake and a fire cliffhanger closed the chapter. I’m only blogging this in case someone wonders why it all fell apart so quickly. B‑baka!

EPISODE 1 – [Branch 01]

Summary: Welcome to Shiromitsugawa’s revitalization festival—until a quake cracks the sacred shrine and a shard injures our MC’s finger. Cue weird rumors: a statue of a girl appears in a park. MC, his classmate friend Yoichi, and the cosplayer Miyako decide to check it out.

We get a whirlwind of scenes:

It’s packed—so much is crammed in, you’d think they needed at least three hours.

Standout Elements: (SIGH)

  • Possible harem? Cringe.
  • No OP/ED included, making it feel even more crammed.
  • QR code contact exchange screams “visual novel adaptation.”
  • Intriguing setup despite the structural chaos.

Final Thoughts:

9‑Nine: Ruler’s Crown Episode 1 packs a mountain of content into a short span. While visuals and VA performance deliver, the adaptation suffers from hyper‑condensation. As a VN fan, it makes sense—but as anime? It’s overwhelming, unfocused, and it left me asking if I should just drop it.

Honestly, reader, should I keep watching or drop it before my brain fractures?

  1. The Shiromitsugawa Revival Festival is displayed with an attractive event. The character design is too impressive.

  2. I didn’t notice that this was already out
