This week’s episode wasn’t a happy one.

Aomine’s Breaking Point

I’ve been a huge Aomine fan since we first saw just how nice of a guy he really is — and this episode did not disappoint. Not because it showed us just what pushed him passed the tipping point but how it all came together to create the Aomine we saw during the first season. Because when it comes down to it, everything that happened stemmed from victory taking precedence over everything. Be it the passionate friendships or the love for the game, none of it managed to trump the cold-hearted need for victory. That said, isn’t it really sad that the Head Coach dropped out when he did? Because had he been able to nurture and control the players in a way that could have kept them from straying too far apart, can you imagine how different the world in which Kuroko plays basketball would be? Sure, there’s always the possibility that their individual skills would eventually break them apart but maybe it would have happened without everyone’s relationships taking a huge hit.

Akashi’s Awakening

There couldn’t have been a better way for Akashi to awake that Emperor Eye of his. Facing the tallest member of the team in a head-to-head battle and completely demolishing him, it felt so good to see Akashi exert his dominance over the cocky Murasakibara. On the other hand, it’s a shame to see that kind faced Akashi has been replaced with the scary looking one. What used to be a pretty cool guy has turned into someone who has an extremely creepy smile no matter how you focus on it. Throw in how he can talk about having a split personality without even batting an eyelash and you have the making of someone who could be absolutely crazy.

Team-Play & Looking Ahead

With Akashi abolishing team-play and opting to focus on the individual talents of the each player, it looks like Teiko’s transformation to what we know today has nearly come to fruition. And as things slowly start to fall apart, it seems that next week is setting the stage for Kuroko to quit the team. But as much as I don’t want to see Kuroko break away from the people whom he cares about the most, I’m a little excited for things to flip back to the present. Because as soon as we do come back, it’ll be time for the fated match between powerhouses to begin.

        Kinda reminded me of one of his most recent acting from Slaine… Boy, this seiyuu sure has a talent in acting as one of those pitiful loser-like characters

        Well I say this seiyuu is great in voicing Kuroko.
        Like it or not, I think of Kuroko as a strong character in holding in his frustrations and sadness though I wish he could have developed his powers back then…

        But now, Kagami and fellow Seirin players are by his side now.

        Kuroko’s crushed face while he was talking to Aomine and Akashi really killed me.

      So basically everyone got drunk on their power. I thought it was just Aomine but almost all.

      So much pressure on a 14 (15?) year old to succeed. Not surprised Akashi snapped and developed this ”other” personality, maybe as a way for him to handle and cope with all the stress.

    I knew this is coming that I dare not watch this episode to haunt me of the team giving up their passion in playing basketball and maintaining their friendship.

    I’ll watch this episode, but I’m not gonna hold back my tears with the revelation on what Kuroko (or should I say Akashi…) did to Ogiwara.

    Kuroko’s dream of staying “together forever” is unlikely now. It’s clear why Kagami is so important to him.

      I didn’t really liked Akashi before but I’m starting to appreciate his character a bit more after this episode.

    I still think the only reason Kagami beat the Generation of Miracles was because they started slacking off.

      That’s only true in Aomine’s case, but for the others it was shown that they were practising before the Winter Cup at least.

      He beat them because of Kuroko. One on one they all tooled him like the scrub he is.

      That’s what you call pure talent. Aomine was the very first in developing his talents with Murasakibara being 2nd one according to these past episodes and this one we’re seeing the GoMs becoming more powerful.

      So power ranking from strongest to weakest, in my opinion but it’s almost true…
      Akashi > Aomine > Murasakibara > Kise > Midorima

      And, in my opinion, Midorima was the only Miracle who didn’t change drastically like the others though Kise is also considered not being changed a lot, but as depicted in this episode where he looked down on others who are considered not that strong. http://randomc.net/2012/04/15/kuroko-no-basuke-02/

      Nevertheless, I’m still getting hyped up on the Seirin vs. Rakuzan arc even though I know the outcome already.

      I interpret his heterochromia as more of a symbolic rather than physical change to represent the dual personality within Akashi. Just like those lightning eyes when they’re in the zone. None of the characters mention these things so I assume that these effects are done mainly for the audience.

    The coach was disappointing imo. Permitting Aomine to skip practice was a bad judgement call. Aomine was hanging by a thin thread and he made the problem worse.

      I wouldn’t blame Murasakibara for everything. Midorima has long noticed the other Akashi and I think it was only a matter of time before he fully manifested. Murasakibara may have pushed him over the edge but it was bound to happen eventually.

    Best episode of Teikou arc so far but I think next episode will be even better.
