Kuroko no Basuke 3 – 07

「笑っちゃいますね」 (Waracchaimasune)
“It Makes Me Laugh”

Boy did this week’s episode wreak of friendship, rivalry, sweat, and tears.

Modest in Victory, Humble in Defeat

With the battle between two giants finally over, it’s still a bit hard for me to stomach Shutoku’s loss. I know I’ve already talked about how much I wish Shutoku had won with that ferocious team spirit of theirs but if there was one saving grace, it’s definitely how they handled themselves afterwards. Keeping their face clear of tears and their voices strong, I could feel my heart screaming out to console them as they expressed their gratitude and regret to all the people supporting them from the sidelines. Toss in how they started to break down once they finally had some privacy and how can you not want to go and give them a hug?

The Heroes Return!

While I had hoped we’d get a little more basketball and a little less talk, there’s no denying that the feeling you get watching Seirin and Kaijo is completely different than what we just saw. With a sense of rivalry in the air, it’s kind of amazing how even with so much pressure being exerted it still almost feels like a friendly match between buddies. As Kuroko so eloquently put it — everyone’s just plain excited for the game that’s about to go down.

Kise.. dafaq

I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feel about Kise’s new ability to unleash everything he’s learned and experienced. I’ll give it to the show that his ability to almost perfectly imitate others would eventually lead down this path but to see him unleash it at a moment’s notice feels a bit cheap. Maybe it’s because we didn’t really get a clear look at what he could really do with it during his previous match but something about this wreaks of.. something not good.

On the other hand, I can also see how much trouble Kaijo would be in if they let Seirin just stomp all over them during the early game. I mean, how hard is it to stomach when someone like Kuroko manages to blow past your defenses and score the first point?

Looking Forward

With the match I’ve been waiting for finally underway, I can’t help but smile a bit thinking about all the cool things Kuroko and Kagami have prepared to take down the now overpowered Kise. We’ve seen that they realize just how much a problem Kise’s going to be but something about Kuroko’s smile after getting completely shutdown gives me the impression he’s coming up with something.

See you next week!

Kuroko’s ability to drive is on par with Aomine in this episode.

    • TheOnlyOneWhoCanBeatMeIsMe

What a shame that ace player Aomine is no longer part of the 3rd season matches.
All he does now is monologuing and being best bro.

    • LeDouche vi Britannia

Kuroko was on some DBZ shit with that vanishing drive.

    • CriticOne

“That new Vanishing Drive animation was pure eye p0rn.”

Yeah, one that I’m not ashamed of watching.

    • dfp396

Well the first half was mostly dialogue. This is where the budget went to.

    • lesley

How did you know? I was wiping the screen during that scene. T_T

”I used to hate you, Kise-kun. But, I mean that in a good way.”

I guess Kuroko is human, after all. Must be extremely frustrating to have his student (Kise) to pass him by in no time.

Midorima and Takao crying gave me too much feels. I hate seeing guys cry, even in anime. 。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。

    • Aschente

Lol they even cry together. They really are the perfect duo.

    • Yuri

That scene was heartbreaking. I felt bad for both of them, though it was good to see the usually disconnected Midorima being emotional for a change.

      • TresBien!

Sadder even since the ever-cheerful Takao was the first one to break.

    • 28paws

Nice to have some backstory on Kuroko for a change. They always focus on the other characters and never him.

      • SK

We’ll see a flashback to the Teiko days and some events that Kuroko and the others have mentioned soon enough. Also, isn’t it kinda fitting that a character who others don’t notice wouldn’t get much focus even from the author?

    • Slaine the Best Shooter (Captain of the Kuroko hype train)

Isn’t he still injured from the past games? I’m guessing that’s going to come into play at some point.

      • Caspi

I’m guessing that his stamina will be his downfall.

    • TheOnlyOneWhoCanBeatMeIsMe

Kise will never be stronger than Aomine unless he can hold his perfect copy for 40 minutes.

      • TresBien!

^This. You have to take the whole game into account. Perfect Copy is not enough if he is average the entire 30+ minutes of the game. Although average Kise is still pretty strong.

    • Reece

Is Perfect Copy Kise’s zone or something else?

      • I believe Perfect Copy is considered to be his Zone already. But this is only the 1st stage.
Wait till you see the 2nd stage around ep. 24/25.

      • calcinite

Um no it was never once stated that Perfect Copy is Kise’s version of zone. That is just an assumption.

    • hogan

The fact that you he can mix moves of the Generation of Miracles skills at any given time within the 5 minutes is crazy. We’re talking about being able to at one moment go from change of pace into ankle breaker or into a post move. The scary thing is he hasn’t even gone into the zone yet.

    • Hitler-kun

Akashi was like, nah I don’t want to shake hands with a loser like you.

  3. thomas

Wow Kise seems even more OP than Akashi!

    • Glutton

I would like to see Akashi’s reaction to the imitation of his Emperor Eye.

      • bOOtywarrior

*cough* *cough* I think you mean Akashi no Basket.

      • Caspi

Without going into the zone, for me its:
        Aomine > Akashi > Kise > Midorima > Murasakibara

    • Aschente

He’s not OP if he can use Perfect Copy only for a total of 4 minutes. That’s a big drawback.

    • If there’s a spin-off, it’ll be Shiro no Basket (if Shirogane Jr. exists).

    • calcinite

Personally, I think Perfect Copy is overrated and none of his abilities are as good as the original.

      • WarriorsHeart

It’s a great skill, but like with a lot of people, I don’t view copycats in high regards.

  4. Brian

What da hell. Subs took forever to come out.

    • bOOtywarrior

The 10-hour wait had me dying.

    • thomas

Yes, what happened? Why was it delayed?

      • Yuri

I don’t know exactly. Daisuki’s got the legal rights to this and the video went up on their site hours late so the problem seems to be on their end.

    • potatogurl

You know an anime’s awesome when you watch the episode in another language because the english subs were late. 😐

    • Andrew

Maybe he meant ”I give up fighting you by myself and I’ll work with my team mates” or something along those lines.

    • Kaye

Yeah, and he’ll have no pride and self-respect left by end of Winter Cup. =/

    • Yuri

I find Kise’s ankle break to be better animated and more realistic than any of Akashi’s. Probably because they don’t need to make them look effortless and God-like compared to Akashi’s.

    • Craig

I’m curious to see how Kuroko and Kagami will manage to beat him. Perhaps a new hidden super power?

    • hogan

It seems Kise can copy eyesight as well. =P

  5. WarriorsHeart

Awesome, Kuroko being the first to score. I always enjoy seeing his moves animated.

    • Andrew

Yes, that was a surprise. Offense all the way from the start.

    • rael

It feels like forever since we got to see Seiren play.

If you look very closely there on the left front row there’s a double-bun hair girl (I made you look). Anyways the point was I clapped too in support of the team even more from now on.
    http://images.randomc.net/Kuroko%20no%20Basuke/Kuroko%20no%20Basuke%203%20-%2007%20-%20Large%2015.jpg
Hasn’t it been established back in season one that Kise can’t copy Kuroko’s moves? (Hinting his weakness).
    http://images.randomc.net/Kuroko%20no%20Basuke/Kuroko%20no%20Basuke%203%20-%2007%20-%20Large%2017.jpg
Wait why would you hide Kuroko here?

    • SK

It was also established at that time that Kise couldn’t copy the rest of the GoM’s moves, which is no longer true with his Perfect Copy. The reasons for not being able to copy Kuroko’s moves vs the GoM’s moves differ, but I wouldn’t necessarily assume that point still holds.

      • calcinite

Kise couldn’t copy the rest of the GoM’s moves

Oh yeah, you’re right. I forgot that he couldn’t do that before. I guess in this case, even copying Kuroko may be a possibility.
