What started out as a seemingly quiet and peaceful episode, quickly turned into something dark and gritty. Besides making me think that Kyubei might actually be some kind of evil monster in disguise, amongst all the character development I was caught off guard with a pretty big plot twist.

In its second episode, Fractale still hasn't given off an adventure feel like the series was made out to be, but the sudden appearance of Nessa and her cheerful, innocent, and curious personality made some strides towards it by disrupting Clain's easygoing lifestyle.

The next installment focuses on Chiba Saori, a bitter misanthropic girl with a not so complex past. Sprinkle some subtle development for most of the characters along the way, and you've got a decent episode.
