With the Fall season well upon us, I thought I’d take this opportunity to get some feedback from our readers as to which series they’re planning to follow or looking forward to the most. While I’m sure a lot of people will include the highly-anticipated sequels — Gundam 00 Second Season, CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~, and ef – a tale of melodies. — in their responses, I feel that there are a lot of other good shows out this season, hence why I’ve tried to touch upon as many as possible in my revival of Patrik’s Snapshots. Rather than simply being posts with summaries and impressions, one of the main objectives of the Snapshots was to provide an unbiased view on new series alongside plenty of visuals, so that everyone can make their own informed decisions.
After the first week, Omni and I have already covered 24 of the new series between the two of us, with potentially four more posts about CHAOS;HEAD, Nodame Cantabile Paris Chapter, TYTANIA, and Michiko to Hatchin coming when they finally premiere. While this is by no means every series that’s airing (nor even every series found in Omni’s Fall 2008 Preview), it does cover every series that either him or I have shown some interest in — enough to check out the first episode anyway. As such, I hope I was able to give everyone a better idea of what’s out there, particularly for the new shows you may have simply overlooked, and am now curious as to where your interests lie.
With that said, I strongly encourage everyone to share their picks, especially those who normally don’t comment (feel free to remain anonymous), as we may use this feedback to ultimately decide what we end up blogging. Aside from Gundam 00 and CLANNAD which are guaranteed to be blogged by Omni, everything else is up in the air right now. On a personal note, it’s questionable how much time I’ll be able to commit from here on while I shift my priorities around, so I’m also trying to assess how much “demand” is out there (for lack of a better word).
So without further ado, here are all the shows that we’ve put some consideration in, broken down by air dates and linked to their respective posts:

Update:
Evidently, creating a poll would’ve been the smart thing to do, but we currently don’t have one in place as you’ve probably noticed (nor a multiple selection one before). However, I did go through 32 pages (620 comments) and painstakingly tallied things by hand, so thank you all for taking the time to provide some feedback. Reading everyone’s responses reaffirms my sentiment that it’s pretty difficult to select just a handful of shows this season, which is pretty much the same boat I’m in after doing all these Snapshots. I found myself in a similar situation last fall when I had more free time on my hands, and ended up following 30 series concurrently (…to completion). Of course, that was only possible prior to blogging, but it’s still something I don’t plan to do again regardless. As many people have noticed, the density of shows (particularly on Thursdays) makes choosing one or two pretty difficult too (at least from a blogging standpoint), so I’ll probably end up watching more than I blog as usual. While Omni strictly adheres to only watching what he blogs, I of course do not or I’d miss out on shows such as Gundam 00, Macross Fronter, etc. which he covers; therefore, I have a little bit “extra” freedom on choosing what to blog. There are a lot of shows we’d love to continue posting about, but unfortunately decisions need to be made now so that we don’t fall terribly behind. As such, posts this week (if any) should indicate our intentions for that series.

Toradora!-I have loads of hope in this series to be great and I’ve enjoyed the manga thus far. It may not be the next Suzumiya Haruhi but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the top anime of this season.
Tales of the Abyss-I know nothing about the game I’ve only played Vesperia but the animation and characters are very beautiful and entertaining.
To Aru Majutsu no Index-so many promising qualities to this anime its mind bottling-yeah I said mind bottling. The scenes are gorgeous, the action sequences are hardcore, the characters are interesting enough, and a male lead that isn’t a total pushover, BAM!

There are at least three other series I want to check out, but I’m still following soul eater and xamd so I don’t know how many series will make the cut. if I have any extra random anime watching time, I’ll probably watch a random episode of skip beat or vampire knight guilty, because, yeah. I loved Yukana as CC and Tears is just a great character. I like the art and the atmosphere of the series. It feels like a fantasy world I can immerse myself into.
Kannagi:
I like the leads and the first episode made me laugh a few times. The quality of the broadcast leaves something to be desired but this one also have good feelings attached to it.
Index:
It seems like this one is very hyped so I feel like I have to watch it. However, the first episode didn’t immediately draw me in so I don’t have that addicted, I can’t wait till next week attitude. It’s decent right now with potential to be a lot better depending on how the story unfolds (hopefully it will be a lot clearer for people who aren’t familiar with the previous adaptation)

Rosario + Vampire Capu2:
Pure and uncensored fun. I don’t expect much from this series, but that’s probably why I like it.
Akane Iro:
Too much hype imo. Definitely calling you out on best romance of the season, that romance angle is hardly original and I think you’re jumping the gun. Decent at the moment with potential to be better. However, it’s not as funny as you think it is. Also, I’m not a big fan of Kugimiya, Rie although I enjoyed Zero and Shana. However, I love Hirano Aya so I am stuck watching this and hoping she plays a bigger role.
Toradora:
I don’t get it. Pocket Tiger my ass. It’s not funny and borderline annoying. But I will still watch it and hope it gets better.
Linebarrels:
OK! I admit it! I watched the first episode just cuz I saw a little nudity in your screen shot and I was curious. Shame on me, but shame on you for making me waste 30 minutes of my life!

Nodame! – This one’s the best and I won’t have any arguments otherwise. 13 Episodes makes me sad though.
Skip Beat – Looks interesting, can’t wait to watch it.

Thursday: Shikabane Hime Aka, Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka, Kuroshitsuji, Yozakura Quartet, CHAOS; HEAD really is the only thing im really pushing for on this day, But i would love to see you do Yozakura Quartet because i dont think anyone else will blog this one. Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka and Kuroshitsuji do look interesting, im more for Akane Iro ni Somaru saka as this fall is full of supernatural shows.
Friday: Take a break friday
Saturday: Another hard day but from order of importance To Aru Majutsu no Index, Kannagi Tales of the Abyss, Kemeko Deluxe i liked them all but index rlly stuck out at me so did kannagi but i think kemeko deluxe which seems to be alot of humor would balance out some of the supernatural shows this fall

Friday: Linebarrels of Iron(weird, but ill try to see a couple more eps…looks like zegapain to me though)

Kuroshitsuji is the only show in the past couple of years that I bothered to watch raws because I couldn’t wait for the sub to come out. I love the manga, and I totally love how the first anime episode turned out. I have read through 3 books already, and there are tons of awesome materials to work into anime. Therefore, it is my ultimate choice. My next choice would be Skip Beat, as I totally dig the manga, and Index that I became interested through the awesome production of the first episode.

I don’t usually post (apart from a few witty comments here and there) but i do visit the blog quite a bit, Shows that seem interesting at first glance to me are: Casshern Sins, GA-REI -zero-, Kuroshitsuji and obviously Gundam00.
However we know that what merely looks good may not translate into an actual good series, and in my experience of a dzillion years of watching anime most tend to suck and sometimes those that seem ordinary or odd may actually turn out to be good.
I just wanted to thank you for your hard work of sifting through all the anime to get the decent/good ones, although i do disagree with your selection from time to time, you guys still do a great job beyond praise of words. Keep it up =)

Anyways, Toradora light novel is pretty good, and I liked how J.C. Staff adapted it. While I was watching it I remembered the scenes I read from the light novel, and JC Staff certainly didn’t failed to portrait the image the author wanted to transmit, this episode was in a few words fantastic and well rounded.
On a side note, light novel based anime tend to be my favorite and since JC specializes in that, well I might be a little biased… But no one can deny that they really tried hard into improving the artwork… (recently they’re outdoing themselves with the artwork)

And, a final suggestion that may be actually more important than all the rest:
Why not blog anime MOVIES too? Like, the recent Ghibli one (Gake no Ue no Ponyo). Of course you wouldn’t be able to post images of these (except promotional trailers, images, etc.) but you can go to the cinema to see it and post your impressions, and then when the DVD comes out post a deeper review. Ghibli movies or others like ‘Toki wo kakeru shoujo’ are definitely good anime that could be blogged too 🙂
The one I like best is a certain magical index.
After that come Kannagi, Yozakura Quartet, Casshern Sins and ef for now. Maybe Kannagi isn’t really blogging material though, being slice of life comedy.
I’ll also continue watching Skip Beat and Ga Rei (only to know what the hell is going on), but I’m not really interested in Skip Beat being blogged, because it’s mostly comedy also.
I’m not including those that haven’t aired yet, but I believe I’ll continue watching at least one of Chaos Head, Tytania and Michiko. But maybe all of them will be good xD

Gundam 00 – I’m a mecha fan, I this show is fantastic and Feldt is hot and legal now
Shows I’m currently checking out/planned on checking form the Fall 2008 Preview:
Soul Eater – I’ve downloaded/ing 1 to 26 but only had time to watch 1, 16 and 17. By the pics on the site and what I’ve see it seem like a good show.
Casshern Sin – Haven’t watch the original yet (but do own it). Seem interesting need to give it another couple of episodes to decide to keep downloading it.
Shikabane Hima Aka – Still downloading the first episode, but look at the pic and summary I don’t note quite what to make of it. I’ll hold judgment till I’ve seen it.
Yozakure Quartet – Still downloading the first episode, but look at the pic and summary seems like this show could go ever way for me.
Linebarrels of Iron – Still downloading the first episode, but look at the pic and summary and the fact that it a mecha show is almost sold to me. The only problem is that this looks to be another eva rip off.
Tales of the Abyss – Still downloading the first two episodes, but look at the pic and summary it seems interesting.
Kannagi – Seem the first episode don’t seem that interesting to me but I’ll give it another episodes or two.
To Aru Majutus no Index – Still downloading the first episode, but look at the pic and summary I don’t know what to think of this show apart from I’m not a fan of the character Index but Misaka Mikoto seems interesting. Need to watch it be for I can judgment.
GA-REI –zero- – Still downloading the first episode, but look at the pic and summary it looks nice but horror isn’t normally my kind of thing. But I’ll watch the first episode to see if it’s any good.
Kurozuka – Still looking for subs, but look at the pic and summary I’m not a blood and gory big fan normally so I’ll properly won’t download any more episodes past the first one because of time and the amount I’m already downloading. However I might buy it if its cheep when it comes out in the uk.
Overall it looks like I’ll be downloading a lot more anime this season then just the four I did last season: Bleach, Code Geass, Macross and Naruto. The only reasons I don’t watch Slayers last season was when I first looked for it I couldn’t find any subbed versions of it and the fact that I had never watch any of the other Slayers shows.

Tales of the Abyss has caught my interest as well.
I have yet to try out GA-REI Zero, Kemeko Deluxe and Tytania, so they reamin a “?”´for me right now. The others, however, are either beyond my reach somehow (didn’t see the first season of Gundam, so no way in hell that I start with season 2) or simply doesn’t provoke my interest.

This fall has many good animes i watched almost all the new animes and if i had to choose 5 of them then it would be something like this:
1) To Aru Majutsu No Index:The anime that impressed me the most. In the first episode it managed to give us an overall overview of the world some nice fighting schenes, a goodshare of laugh and finally a cliphanger.I believe its a must.
2)Rosario+Vampire:I know most ppl believe this is a full-fanservice crap-show :S Well i had somewhat the same opinion after reading them manga(which is awesome btw) and going through the first season.But how you see this anime depends on “what you expect to see”.So it might have no story and be full of fan-servise but its a really good animated comedy that i really enjoyed watching the first episode.I think you should give it a try.
3)Ef-a tale of melodies:I wasnt really impressed by the first episode but i believe that it has potential and its gonna get better soon.
4)Toradora:Well i will be honest.The first 2 eps seemed sooo typical that i thought it was lame.BUT(a huge but) Kugumiya Rie is playing… And since im a huge fun i want to believe that this show will become better soon.Also from what iv heard from ppl reading the manga its gonna get better so…
5)Nodame:Havent watched the 1st episode yet but one thing is sure.Nodame cant fail.This animes first season was beyond amazing and i wanna believe second season will be like that
