"First Kiss"
An early broadcast premiere of the anime adaptation of Hobby Japan's 40th anniversary original novel and figure series was aired on Tokyo MX almost a month before the actual start of the fall season. Much like their other work that ARMS studio animated, Queen's Blade, I just know a lot of people are going to quickly write this series off, but I'm tempted to cover it to prevent that from happening. Ignorance is not bliss.

"Time of Awakening"
Known as "Broken Blade" in English, Yoshinaga Yunosuke's manga saw the start of its six-part adaptation in late May of this year. What's unique about this one is that it's a joint production between Production I.G. and XEBEC and of the movie variety.

I'm admittedly not a big fan of the Hatsune Miku nor vocaloids in general, but when supercell's illustrator Huke designs an original character named "Black Rock Shooter", composer Ryo writes a song titled after her for Miku to sing, and everyone can barely contain themselves after learning that a 50-min OVA was going to be made, it felt like I was going to start getting death threats if I didn't blog about it.

At first glance, the title of Kobayashi Motofumi's manga will probably make one think it's about cats doing their business, while mention of bunnies may suggest it's one of those cute and cuddling type of shows, but what we actually have here is a war-based series where looking cute doesn't save you from getting shot in the head.
I won't be actively covering Asobi ni Iku yo, but the opening sequence that was absent in the premiere showed up as an ending sequence in the second episode and I wanted to say a few words about the series.

For a science fiction series, I probably should have mentioned back in the season preview that there's more to this one than a beautiful alien catgirl falling into the lap of our unassuming male protagonist Kakazu Kio (Tamura Mutsumi).

"First Blood"
Taking the second half hour in noitaminA's recently expanding time slot is the adaptation of Ono Fuyumi's light novel Shiki ("Corpse Demon"). She's best known for her work in the Twelve Kingdom series, but is no stranger to the horror genre as her Ghost Hunt series has already been adapted into a very enjoyable anime.

"Entering University"
Being a drama, this series didn't get any mention in the Summer 2010 Preview, but is actually airing in the top noitaminA time slot this season. The 11-episode anime adaptation aired in the noitaminA time slot back in fall 2007, and most of its episodes were covered here.

Divine posted about the opening and ending songs so I wont talk too much about them here. The OP sequence was great all around, with a aesthetically pleasing pop rock song and featuring a nice video as well.

Six months after the liberation of Gallia from the Neuroi, Miyafuji Yoshika (Fukuen Misato) is back in Fuso and receives a mysterious letter from her deceased father containing blueprints of some sort.
