It's time for the Fourth Annual Reader's Choice Poll!

This year, we're changing the poll in a few key ways:

There are now two polls. One poll is for all regularly broadcast series and the other is for OVAs, ONAs, and movies.

You now get three votes for the regularly broadcast series poll and one vote for the OVA/ONA/movie poll. This lets you choose your top three for the year instead of just top one, which in past years has skewed the poll towards certain shows.

You can write-in your favorite show or OVA/ONA/movie if it's not on the list. However, if you choose to write-in a title that doesn't qualify (see below), then that's basically wasting a vote.

The criteria for a series being included on the regularly broadcast series list is that it had to have been a complete TV series that ended in 2009. The general idea here is that you can't really judge a series until it's over, and that means that fans of shows like Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood will have to wait until next year's poll. The criteria for a series being included on the OVA/ONA/movie list is just that it has to have been released in 2009 on DVD or online. This means that Summer Wars does not qualify this year. Still, if there's anything you think that deserves to be put as an option on either list that isn't already there, then feel free to email me, and I'll add it.

It's time for the Third Annual Reader's Choice Poll!

Every year there are so many good choices, and I'm still in the process of choosing my own favorites (GEASS, Macross Frontier, and true tears are at the top of my list), but below, you can vote for your Favorite Anime of 2008 from a list of every single series that's ended this past year.

The criteria for a series being included on this list is that it had to have been a complete TV series that ended in 2008 or will be ending very soon. The general idea here is that you can't really judge a series until it's over, and that means that fans of shows like Toradora! will have to wait until next year's poll. I also wasn't able to include any OVAs because there were just too many of them, though I've added Detroit Metal City and Kara no Kyoukai to the list by special request. In addition, I've combined series that were split into two parts into one listing (i.e. Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty). Still, if there's anything you think I omitted that fits into the above criteria, feel free to email me, and I'll add it to the list.

It's time for the Second Annual Reader's Choice Poll! There are a lot of good choices this year, and I’m still in the process of choosing my own favorites (having a hard time deciding between GEASS and Gurren Lagann, among others), but below, you can vote for your Favorite Anime of 2007 from a list of every single series that's ended this past year.

If you voted in the first annual poll last year, you might remember that I had a somewhat complex set of criteria for shows that were included on the list. This year, I've decided to simply include every anime series (no OVAs or movies) that ended in 2007, with the only exceptions being the handful that ended last January. The general idea is that you can't judge a series properly until it's completely over. That means fans of Clannad or any of the other currently airing shows that are two seasons long will have to wait until next year's poll (and that's also why Kanon is on the list).

All together, there are 135 choices, plus "Other" in case there's a relatively obscure anime series you really enjoyed that's not on the list (or even something that I just neglected to add). Choose your favorite and the winner will get included in next week’s post!

The end of the year is always a good time to reflect on what we've seen these past four or so seasons. I'm still in the process of writing up my opinions on the Best of Anime 2006, but I was wondering what everyone else thought. And so, listed below are 99 series that aired in the year 2006 (plus "Other" at the very bottom to make an even 100). I have my suspicions on how people will vote, but I'm very curious to see how this really turns out. Choose your favorite and the winner will get included in next week's post! Disclaimer - The methodology that I chose was to include series that:

Started in Fall of 2005 but aired the majority of its episodes in 2006. Examples: Mai-Otome, Blood+.

Started in Winter, Spring, or Summer of 2006.

Started in Fall of 2006 and aired the majority of its episodes in 2006. Examples: Soukou no Strain counts because it airs the majority of its episodes in 2006, even if it doesn't completely finish until February because of large breaks. However, CODE GEASS does not count because it will have only aired 11 episodes by the end of this year. GEASS fans will have to wait for the second poll coming later this week on favorite Fall 2006 series.

Even with these requirements, there were still a few minor/kiddie/unpopular shows that I didn't include. If for some reason you felt that Sasami Mahou Shoujo Club was the best series this year, then you can always vote under "Other." Note: This poll will close Wednesday, December 20th, 2006 at 11:59 PM.
