Introduction – “I Prefer the Term ‘Enthusiast'”

KairiI never so much as imagined that a casual remark could lead to the fulfillment of a dream, but here I am, still pinching myself every few minutes to make sure I’m not making it up.My experience with anime has been a deeply personal one. I was a sheltered child whose television programming was carefully controlled in order to weed out “bad influences”, so my first true encounter with anime came one day in the eighth grade, when one of my teachers decided that it would be fun to watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist in class. Never before had I been exposed to something that mature and thought-provoking outside of books, and Hylia-be-damned, I wanted more. It wasn’t long after that I discovered the internet and its proliferation of anime. In 2006, a year that marked a very difficult time in my life, I stumbled upon Eureka Seven. I found myself in the characters and themes in a way I never had with any other work, and suddenly the crushing depression that had driven me to some very dark places began to dissipate. The experience was so powerful that some six years later, I’m still watching E7 at every opportunity, despite having seen it over thirty times.Last year, I accidentally found Random Curiosity. Having been so influenced by the art form of anime itself, I was struck with awe at the quality and level of discussion each writer brought to their work, and I found myself drawn to the idea of writing. That’s how my own personal blog, The Limit of Questions, was born, though it, and I by extension, are far from the ideal quality that RandomC stands for in my mind.Kairi-2That’s why I was utterly shocked to find that my remark to Seishun last week about my dream to write here led to Stilts-senpai asking if I’d be interested in actually taking up a position. While I still have doubts as to my ability, I somehow worked up the courage to go for it, and thanks to this amazing opportunity, I’ll now be picking up coverage of Hataraku Maou-sama! and Karneval this Spring. As to my tastes, I don’t really have any; in general terms, I will watch any genre, and I base my judgments not on content, but on thematic analysis, execution, and simply how much fun I have watching something. Here’s my MAL for reference, though I tend to score based on whims and am always horrified to find Series X scored higher than Series Y a few months later.Apart from blogging, I’ve been translating manga on and off for years. I’m currently working on various Japanese-only releases of Eureka Seven material, though I’ve considered translating the Shin Sekai Yori novels if the official publication doesn’t happen. In any case, I’m incredibly thankful to Divine and each and every writer here for making RandomC such a wonderful place, and I’m especially grateful to Stilts for taking the time to talk to me, encourage me, and put up with my overly flowery writing and ignorance over the last few days (I’ll give it my best, Senpai!). I know that a lot of sad changes have happened lately, but I still hope to contribute a little bit to what makes this site so great. With that being said, I’m ecstatic to be here; Random Curiosity truly is the stuff of a blogger’s dreams, and though I’m coming on board a bit late in the season, I look forward to interacting with you all from now on!Watashi wa Kairi desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

And some people were worried that we wouldn’t have enough writers. Don’t worry everyone, we’ve got ya covered!Welcome to the team, Kairi. Make sure to have fun with it! : )

    • J_the_Man

You guys do such a good job, it’s no wonder you inspire others to climb aboard the Randomc train.

    • Da5id

Does Kairi get a chibi drawing?

      • Zen

I’m pretty sure either Moomba or Stereoman was responsible for those and they both just left, so…

  2. shamaticgrl

Welcome Kairi, looking forward to reading your post and what your thoughts are on Maou.

    • Kairi

Thank you, I’ll do my best to make my coverage on Maou fun, as it should be!

  3. Tonameki

Welcome Kairi, Good luck and I am looking forward to reading your posts.

      • Tonameki

      • Tre

      • Kairi

Thanks, but I’ve still got a long way to go! In the meantime I really hope you find something you like there!

  4. bolton

it’s funny how one educator’s decision made such a large impact on your life that it could result to this. congratulations, and well wishes. looking forward to your contributions.

    • Kairi

I was very lucky with teachers all my life; they always had something to say or show to those of us willing to listen. Thank you very much, I hope to do my utmost to contribute what I can here.

    • Nitro

It just means the educator has done their job well!

      • Kairi

It does! Thankfully I had many such teachers.

  5. rico

    welcome to the RC 😛

  6. SilentCid

I almost find it hard to believe SeishunOtoko manage to have a girl listen to him on anything. Is this the new Seishun? I guess time will tell. Anyways Welcome to RC I wish you the best and thank you for time on blogging these two shows.

    • Kairi

Well, I wasn’t planning on actually applying, but I could hardly say no when asked! Serendipity worked in my favor, I suppose. Now I just have to back it up with hard work and dedication. Thank you, and I’ll do my best!

  7. Zanibas

After looking through your MAL List, I am happy to see you enjoyed Kare Kano, Tonari, and Perfect Order! I’m a bit sad you rated Tomoyo’s Another World chapter so low, but it’s a small drop in a large sea of awesome :3Welcome to the team! I fully expect you to hop onto our podcast team, considering your participation in your own :P.

    • Kairi

I did love all of those! The thing about my ratings is that they mean pretty much nothing. xD I’m so impulsive I just pick a random number, unfortunately. I liked Tomoyo’s chapter quite a bit, but she wasn’t my favorite girl.I’m always happy to podcast; I’ve been doing it since I was about 13 but I’m a bit rusty. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu, senpai!

      • Zanibas

Btw, we’ve fixed your banner up on the front page, hope it’s alright~ 😛

      • Kairi

No problem, it looks great! Thank you!

  8. livevoid

Welcome and thank you for picking up Hataraku Maou-sama!

    • Kairi

Thanks, and no problem! It was a great premiere, and hopefully it’ll be an equally fun series throughout!

  9. Freddeh

Be honest Stilts, you just really wanted a Kouhai after Sakurasou ;).Welcome Kairi! I look forward to reading your Maou-sama posts! 😀

    • Kairi

I can’t speak for Stilts-senpai, but… that might just be the case, maybe. xDThanks, I hope you’ll enjoy them!

    • Stilts

Okay, maybe I call her Kouhai-chan because of Sakurasou…but that’s purely by coincidence, I swear!

      • Kairi

That’s okay, I like Sakurasou anyway! Also, you were right Senpai, this is like crack. D: I. Can’t. Stop. Answering. Dx

      • Stilts

Ahaha, told ya! The readers are just too much fun ; )

  10. Annami

I like you have not been on RC for very long only finding this site in the summer of 2012 , I enjoy everything here and I look forward to your posts

    • Kairi

It’s such a wonderful place, I’m so glad I found it! I hope you continue to enjoy your time here as much as I have. ^^

  11. Shadowfax14

Welcome! Looking forward to reading your post!

    • Kairi

Thanks! Looking forward to bringing you posts!

  12. Hallo! 😀 Gotta say, it’s darn nice to have another E7 fan amongst the writers.

    • Kairi

Hello there senpai! Well, you can always talk to me about it! I’m pretty damn obsessed if I do say so myself. xD Have you read/seen New Order?

      • Yup. I also got all the special ED sets of the series too (zeh ones that came with zeh manga/t-shirt/exclusive box art). =D Oh and Enzo’s a fan too. I get the feeling we’ll get along quite well. 😛

      • Kairi

Oh so nice, I missed out on those! I just have the regular collection. I’ve got all the manga and novels though, including Japan only ones and spin offs, and all the soundtracks. Oh what I’d do for that special edition box set in Japan…I’ve heard! I hope we do, I’m always up for a good Eureka Seven chat!

      • Kairi

Oooohhhh. I must resist… maybe… maybe… well, who needs to eat next week anyway? ;p

      • LOL, now now. They’ll still be in stock for a while. No need to starve a week… just one day each of the next few weeks… maybe.

      • Kairi

They actually might not be; since Bandai went down there’s been a mad rush for E7 merchandise. In some places people are selling their collections off for crazy high prices.

  13. Kurisu Vi Britannia

    So you’re an Otaku? 😛

    • Kairi

Depends how you define “otaku”. If that means I translate manga in my free time, blog anime in the rest, own an ungodly amount of E7 merchandise, read all 800 pages of the Golden Bough twice, and am on my 34th viewing of said series, then yes, I probably am. ;o

  14. Seishun

Welcome Kairi, I guess I’m no longer the only newbie at RC ;)I knew you were a keeper the moment I saw your blog and for the past week, “nab her, nab her, nab her” is all I’ve been telling Stilts XD

    • Kairi

Thanks Seishun! You are now a senpai as well! =)Aw, thanks so much! I’m really excited to be here, though I’m still not sure if my writing can keep up. I’ll do my best!

    • You’re still a newbie SeishunOtoko just that you have lots of background of RandomC 1/2 inside and out.

    • The Moondoggie

      >Sei not asking if he’s male or female yet…GODDAMN BREAKTHROUGH! So proud of you Sei!

      • Actually, it’s only because he already knows.

      • The Moondoggie

Meh? So that was it. I thought he’s done with that habit. Oh well…

      • Kairi

Was just about to say that Zephyr! xD

      • MrRei

I was thinking the same… the first thing he ask is, “Are you female?”. >_>Welcome Kairi! 😀

    • The fact the Seishun has been with us for so long that his Hazing was no fun at all. More like, he already wanted it(Hazing) and looked forward to it.

    • Stilts

Credit where credit is due…I was already thinking Kairi might be a good potential writer, but Seishun was thinking & told me the same thing. Good eye for a newbie, my friend ; )

  15. Justkillmefirst

I think you can call me the few followers of this web, i even email the founders, before someone els had taken over it. It was very good back then, and i am happy when i came back it’s still the same, but with more people. it’s slowly turning in the a cult. Using the word cult is a bit too excessive, however it dose seem like it.

    • Kairi

Wow that’s amazing! I hope I can contribute to the atmosphere that makes RandomC so special. Perhaps not a cult, but definitely a tight-knit community.

  16. Tassadar

Welcome to RC! Glad to have you on board!

  17. blahblah0625

Welcome, and I hope to read your future reviews!

    • Kairi

Thank you, please look forward to them!

  18. FT5Havok

Welcome Renton and Eureka’s offspring! 😉

    • Kairi

Haha, now now, I wouldn’t go that far… though my mom and Eureka are eerily similar people; it scares the heck out of me sometimes. xD

  19. kou

Welcome to RC and enjoy your stay. Do try to pop into IRC and chat with your loyal fans from time to time.

    • Kairi

Thanks I will! I’m not too well versed on how to use irc, but I’m always willing to learn. =)

  20. Windaerie

It’s always exciting to see a new writer on RC, can’t wait to read your posts on Hataraku Maou-sama! and Karneval. :3 And your own blog looks amazing, I’ll definitely be checking that out from now as well. Welcome welcome!

    • Kairi

I’ll do my best to make them interesting reads! Thanks so much, it’s just a little thing in its corner of the internet, but I really hope you find something to enjoy at LoQ!

  21. Frog

Now this is a funny coincidence. I was haunting your blog last night devouring all your posts.Welcome to RC, Kairi!

    • Kairi

Wow that is a coincidence! I hope you enjoyed reading my posts there; I know they’re not nearly as good as the stuff here, but I’m working on improving!Thank you so much, and I hope to see you around!

  22. exia

Oh I remember the times when it was only Omni and Divine blogging. Now we got a whole family of bloggers, welcome aboard the Curiosity of the Randoms.

    • Zanibas

If you look at our about page, we’ve actually had many writers come and go over the course of the site’s history. It’s just that Omni and Divine happen to be quite the enduring troopers of their generations :3

    • Kairi

Thanks so much, I’ll do my best to live up to the other wonderful writers here!

    • Kairi

Hello, I apologize if I’ve displeased you in any way. Thanks for taking the time to post regardless. =)

    • If you keep quite about Little Busters!(Anime) in IRC then I will forgive you.

      • Kairi

I see… I suppose you don’t like it. :0 Well, that’s okay. Before I could say anything, I’d have to figure out IRC first!

    • The Moondoggie

Croos dun be like that. I know you are tsundere to death over Little Busters considering how much you love the game and hated the anime.Anyway, can you feel that? It’s like we aged again!! Here comes some new bloggers(except Sei since he’s as old as us) again.I’d LOL the day RC turns 20.

      • zeroyuki92

I know it, so many people are too tsundere about LB that it becomes funny XD

  23. Wanderer

I can remember the days when Random Curiosity was just Omni blogging about anime all by himself. It’s remarkable how what was a small and relatively unknown blog has grown over the years, not only to have a community of readers but a whole community of writers as well. This place has become my first pick for finding out about series I would otherwise never have considered watching. I am glad to see that community of writers growing again, and to know that that community has a vested interest in keeping Random Curiosity a place where people can count on finding these reviews and other content.Welcome, Kairi. Don’t mind the trolls (I’m sure there will be a few, despite everything). Write your reviews as suits you best, and you’ll be a welcome addition to this place.

    • Kairi

I may not have been here long but I’ve heard so much about the history of this site that it’s pretty amazing stuff. This is always the first place I come to look for great reviews as well. Thanks so much; that’s okay, I don’t mind! I hope I can do just that, and hopefully contribute to the wonderful atmosphere even just a little bit.

  24. Welcome to RC, and do consider hanging around IRC with us, it’s a grand old place. And let me just say that I’m glad I found another person who loves Jinrui and SSY as much as I do. We’re looking forward to your tenure here, so… Yoroshiku to you too!

    • Kairi

I will, once I’ve figured it out… and when I don’t have a ten page paper due tomorrow… xDI love Jinrui and SSY very much, they’re both wonderful series! I hope to see you around, and thank you so much!

  25. Catsrofl

Though my experience with anime might not have been personal, it definitely holds a special place.Best of luck in your blogging endeavours! And yeah, an official congrats here….Congratulations xD

    • Kairi

I’m sure it’s special to everyone for different reasons! Art is amazing no matter what form; it has a way of getting in under your skin and changing you. Thanks, I will work hard!

  26. hai

Welcome Kairi! I’m interested in how you could possibly translate the shin sekai york novels. Are you a native Japanese speaker? I would think it would take someone of that caliber to even attempt such an ambitious project! That would take years i would imagine! Regardless, I’m glad you are here! Wish you the best. Don’t get burned out 🙂

    • Kairi

I’m not a native speaker, but I’m already bilingual since birth so languages come to me very easily. I’m still a student but there’s nothing you can’t do without some resolve, a 2,000 page kanji dictionary, and good old determination. It’s a tough project and I wouldn’t take it on unless the publication project fails; they’re great novels and they should be read! Not years, but maybe one and a half. I’m currently working on an Eureka Seven novel and it’s not as hideous as it seems. Thanks, I’ll try not to; I love keeping busy!

  27. EmD

so…Riku or Sora? But no, seriously, I love the fact that you’re covering Hataraku Maou-sama. You get an A+ from me just for that.

    • Kairi

Haha, if you only knew the history behind this name. xD But that’s a tough one. Probably Sora because he’s a dreamer. I like people like that. =) It’s no problem, Hataraku was one of my favorite premieres this season! Katsu-duuun. xD

  28. Great to have you on board! We haven’t formally met but hopefully we’ll have a chance to talk soon ^^ Hope you enjoy Karneval too! So far so good imo.

    • Kairi

Thank you so much Senpai! It’s really nice to meet you, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you! I liked the premiere quite a bit, though it was crammed with content a little. Hopefully that’s not the case for the rest of the run, because I’ve heard great things.

      • Omg I’m a senpai now?! *blushes =X I’m really not… hopefully you’re ready for your first episodic post tomorrow? Last week was a pain to get a clean raw for Karneval early so I pray that it comes out more promptly this week for you =) There’s more to our little group than just watching a ton of anime though… you should come on IRC more often and you’ll see. You’ve probably already been – clearly everyone knows you’re a girl already -__-‘ big mistake there. You can avoid stalkers in the future by claiming that everyone on the internet is a dude unless proven otherwise =) And whatever you do, don’t share your picture!

      • Kairi

A senpai is a senpai! Blogging Karneval was a pain last week for me as well, though hopefully things will be easier this time around. Thank you, I certainly will join you one of these days!I’ve been on the internet for a long time, and on forums since I was 13, so I’m used to the heckling. I just hate that I have to pretend to be something I’m not just because I’m a woman, so I don’t hide it. I may have joked around a bit more than I should have (I’m unfortunately not as careful as I used to be, an effect of growing up with guys my whole life and then not being very socially adept and desensitized) but I’ll try to be more clear from now on. I’m normally a serious person, people get bored of me easily. Thanks for the advice though, Cherrie-senpai!I wouldn’t share my picture either, I’m not THAT silly!

    • Don’t be deceive by Cherrie, KAIRI!!She maybe a regular sempai to you but she is actually powerful than a certain someone I know her in RC!!

  29. Jani

Congratulations!!! I’m looking forward to your reviews on Karneval!!!! I hope you are as excited for this show as I am! 🙂

    • Kairi

Thank you! I haven’t read the manga but I’ve heard wonderful things and I liked the premiere, so hopefully it will turn out to be great!

      • Jani

Same goes for me, I just keep hearing great things as well so I hope we aren’t dissapointed.

      • Kairi

A good rule of thumb for me is never to let my expectations rule my viewing experience though. Sometimes things play out very differently than we think they will, and having expectations makes that feel negative rather than just different. Still, I do hope Karneval at least turns out to be some level of good!

  30. The Moondoggie

New face, new season. Welcome to Randomc Kairi.

    • Kairi

Thank you, I’m really glad to have this opportunity!

  31. Xpulsion

Good Luck and happy writing! Hope to see some great pieces to talk and laugh about.

    • Kairi

Thanks! I’m sure I’ll enjoy my time here immensely. I hope my writing is up to scratch to deliver posts of the quality you expect!

  32. ShuA

Welcome Kairi. Are you Kingdom Hearts fan?Looking forward to your Hataraku Maou sama post 🙂 and glad to have you aboard.

    • Kairi

I am a KH fan, though my name is so old I’ve been using it since before I was a KH fan. ;o Thanks, I hope you’ll enjoy reading about Hataraku every week!

  33. FT5Havok

Kairi are you a girl or a trap ? ;D

    • Kairi

If I were a trap, I wouldn’t tell you, now would I? ;pHowever, I’m honestly a girl. Believe me, you’d know too.

      • FT5Havok

Can you be my waifu then? xD

      • Kairi

Hey, for all you know I could be a serial killer with various hidden basements. Or I really might be a trap… hoho.

      • FT5Havok

So is that a NO? T,T

      • Kairi

Sorry, but it is. You’ll have to at least take a girl out to dinner, you know? ;o

      • FT5Havok

So will a dinner increase my chance? A dinner it is! ;D

      • Ryan Ashlight

Sugoi, ne… talk about no hesitation. Ken Sugisaki would be proud, indeed. -Nod nod-

      • Kairi

It might, haha. But you’ll have to raincheck on that for some time because I have a hell of a lot of work to do until summer. And in the summer I’m translating novels and have a job, so not any time soon. You might want to check that I’m not a serial killer too. Oh, and you know, get to know someone first? =p

      • KoroshiyaKi

Did someone call for a serial killer?

    • FT5Havok

I’ll work on that! but will you wait for me? xDA serial killer? I’ll be your Kokutou then! <3

      • Kairi

You know what they say, “A woman’s heart and the autumn wind”. ;p But go ahead and see if you can’t win me over, hahaha. I’ll make it interesting, hehe.Always good to know someone isn’t afraid of a serial killer… oh wait.

      • FT5Havok

Make it interesting? Can’t wait for that! I’ll gladly accept the challenge Kairi-san! <3Hahaha! Did you just reveal yourself? ;P

      • Kairi

Oh ho, reverse challenge accepted! No… I just thought I heard something from the basement. Cat, you know.

      • FT5Havok

What is reverse challenge accepted? ;P

      • Kairi

Standing firm against your advances. ;o You gotta earn it, and I’m not so eager to go on the dating market atm. So. Let the game begin.

      • FT5Havok

Better brace yourself Kairi-san! I’ll be going at you! Let the game begin indeed! ;D

      • Kairi

Haha, well, I warn you, it won’t be easy. Not even a little bit.

      • FT5Havok

I think nothing in life is really easy. But it certainly will be worthwhile no matter how difficult it is. So you’re nothing to me Kairi-san! 😛

      • Kairi

Well, strike 1, because no one likes hearing they’re nothing to the person trying to get one to like them! xD

      • FT5Havok

        omgashaeqewqeqwe2132eqwfa! I didn’t mean it that way! ROFL! :@ You’re such a noob! 😛

      • Kairi

In either context, no one likes it. xD And strike 2, for calling that person a noob. ;p

      • FT5Havok

        Aren’t you a newbie here? hahaha! <3

      • Kairi

As a writer yes, but I’ve been around. Haha.

      • FT5Havok

But you’re still a noob to me! haha! 😛 BTW I added you on MAL ;D

      • Kairi

That’s fair in some ways, I suppose.Alright, but I normally don’t have this much time to just hang out, even on MAL. :0 I’m being a slacker today, but I have to write a paper tonight, for example.

      • FT5Havok

No time to hang out? = Life is hard(for me)! ROFL!Stop slacking off you lazy bum! haha! atleast I can ask you this.Anata no denwa bangohan nan ban desu ka? >,<

      • Kairi

You wanted to go for it. =pI’m not being lazy, I’m answering every comment. xDThat means absolutely nothing. xD “your phone dinner what evening?”I think you mean “itsu, bangohan wo tabemashouka?”

      • FT5Havok

Where are those damn Japanese worksheets when you need them!!! :@ HAHAHAHAHA!But you know what I mean! 😉

      • Kairi

Presumably not in the next two years. xD College keeps you busy, you know. Unless you change my mind, hahahaha.

      • FT5Havok

Why are you so bad at Japanese?! Arrgghh! HAHAHAHA! Let me try it one more time.”Anata no denwa bango wa nan ban desu ka?” ;P

      • Kairi

No, now it says “your phone evening five is what evening?” Which is better but… xD Anyway, this was fun, but I do have to go now. See you around. =p

      • calytrix

!A NEW CHALLENGER HAS ARRIVED!CHANCE~!muaha, how unfortunate for you FT5Havok but it seems you are leagues away from wooing a maiden’s heart. ehheehee.Kairi-hime! O fairest otome to have e’er grace my retina display.Would thou turn thy lovely cheek my way?Tho I am woman in body and in mind,My spirit, and my reverence burn for you more brightly, brighter than any man thou’st e’er find.ME: … RC COMMUNITY: ……aha, can you tell how I failed gave up at the end?All jokes and barfworthy archaic prose aside, WELCOME KAIRI-HIME!I’m oddly excite for a new girl writer! And I’m so glad Maou-sama will not go unblogged! 😀

      • Kairi

Now really you two, that’s enough. All joking aside, you really shouldn’t start hitting on every girl you meet on the internet. That’s how you get trolled and also how you make the girls who matter lose respect for you. ;o I’m not planning to date anyone here or in RL, but I’m happy to give you some friendly advice: if you’re nice and sincere, people will naturally want to talk to you. No need to flatter and woo anyone, haha. I’m happy to chat anytime, but I’m not going to flirt with anyone. I’m here to work, and I take my job seriously. ;o

      • Stilts

Ft5, stop hitting on our new writers. That’s why we keep Takaii around. Get with the program!!

      • Here here! Stop hitting on writers! I’m pretty sure Stilts already claimed dubs on Kairi =X *runs away*

      • Zanibas

*me hooks Cherrie in with his grapple*You’re not getting away this time! If you’re going to ship people, face it like a man 😛

    • agr0n

This stream a comments was fricken hilarious :p

    • Anon

The next chapter in the Random Curiosity dating site begins!

      • Kairi

I think everyone’s a little more hopeful after Stereoman and Moomba’s story! Though, I don’t think this counts as the next chapter, haha.

    • Zen

I’m onto you guys! M. Night Shyamalan twist: FT5Havok is her actual IRL boyfriend and this whole thread is some kind of first-post publicity stunt attempting to play off of recent events (jk)…XPBut in all seriousness, how sporting of you Kairi, that’s hilarious…were I a woman being faced with the same situation I’d probably just get all worked up and scream sexual harassment…I guess watching ecchi shows really builds your tolerance for these sorts of things, especially coming from hapless, otakus huh…8I

      • Kairi

That WOULD be an amusing twist! xD But no, it is not the case, haha. It’s a sad truth that you get used to this sort of treatment; eventually it just becomes fun to mess around with. I’m surprised people got I was a girl so easily; most of time everyone assumes I’m a guy (even with the name Kairi) and find out like two months later. However, I do draw the line at some point. I’m not here to sully my professionalism, so the joking must end at some point.

      • Zen

Im surprised people got I was a girl so easily; most of time everyone assumes Im a guy (even with the name Kairi) and find out like two months later.

You know that if one clicks on the “my site” link above any of your comments, it leads him straight to your personal site “The Limit of Questions” where one may then easily locate your “About me” link on the front page which then redirects him straight to your “Blogger: User Profile: Kairi” page which contains both your gender and location, right? Easily accessible personal information. Internet anonymity protip- don’t underestimate online stalkers; never leave hyperlink breadcrumb trails and never put any personal information in easily accessible places if you don’t want it to be found because dem filthy scavengers can smell it from miles away…and if you’re paranoid like me always use Tor and faux email addresses when posting on unfamiliar sites, RC not included, of course…XP

      • Kairi

Well that’s true, but you’d be surprised that even after saying I’m female in places like that, I’d still get away with it. xD I’m not particularly concerned with hiding it, it’s just interesting to note that that’s usually what happens. I always use extra email anyway, haha.

    • Seishun

LOL Must R-E-F-R-A-I-N from joining the fun >.

      • Kairi

Hahaha, I do hear you have a bad reputation, senpai.Let’s keep it that way, don’t want to have to call any coworkers out on sekuhara!

  34. zeroyuki92

Welcome to the jungle, Kairi! While I won’t watch karneval this season, I liked what I watched in Hataraku Maou-Sama so far, so I am looking forward to see your thoughts about it :3Btw, after I saw your blog, it turned out that I have stalked them for some reviews before. While I am still falling behind in many series last season, I managed to follow Little Busters! week-to-week and I enjoyed reading your review about it,especially when you started to aware and analyzing about multiple things that was hiding behind LB! simplistic plot (in the surface). As another (almost) anime-only watcher, I am glad that I can found another viewer (and blogger )who openly catching hints and speculating the plot behind it. :3P.S I think I should end my “I know I will like that anime but somehow I haven’t watched it yet” syndrome and watch E7 soon.P.P.S I always like life stories where anime/other creative medias changed someone’s life to be better than before, and you’re not an exception. Thanks for sharing it >___<

    • Kairi

Thanks! I picked some pretty diverse series to follow, so I’m not surprised if people are only interested in one at a time! Hataraku was awesome, and I hope it stays as witty and enjoyable as the premiere proved it was capable of being.Really? Haha, I’m glad to hear it! LB is so interesting; it’s always hiding behind the mask of simplicity and earnestness, but beneath that there’s so much mystery and speculation to be had. I love theorizing, though I’m not the best at it. It’s so much fun to piece together a theory and test it out, which is why I love science… I just suck at math. xDYou should watch it! It’s a truly amazing series, and even if you don’t adore it, I guarantee you’ll like something about it!No problem, it’s something that changed me completely, so I think it’s an important part of who I am. =)

      • zeroyuki92

Yeah. I actually cheated a bit since I have read Komari, Haruka and Rin’s (fake) route in the VN before, so I ended up to have more awareness rather than usual TV only watchers :p. Well, I hope you will cover Refrain along with Enzo anytime it’s out :3OK, I’ll toss a coin to decide between Macross and E7 when I have one or two days free and marathon one of it first. Gonna fix the lack of early mecha series in my MAL :3P.S I’m also sucks at math, but somehow I ended up in Industrial Engineering where math become a daily breakfast. I have no other way other than facing it T___T

      • Kairi

Ah, I see! Well having a little insight isn’t a bad thing! Ah no, please don’t but Enzo-senpai and I in the same league, he’s far far better than I am. D: I only wish I could write that well. However, I’m always happy to speculate about LB! I’ve yet to see Macross myself, but I hope to get to it soon. I was an astrophysics major until last semester, so I understand. T-T Ganbatte!

  35. Swarz

Yay….Another new face. Congrats and, welcome aboard Kairi. It’s great to hear that you are taking up Hataraku Maou Sama. Looking forward to read you thoughts on Maou sama. Wish you best of luck Kairi. :)P.s: So, are you the one who started translating Shin Sekai Yori @ BT?

    • Kairi

Thank you, I’m glad to come aboard! It should be a fun series to blog, so I’m looking forward to writing about it! I will do my best! No, that’s not me, but I’m really happy to hear that someone else is also working on them! That’s amazing! ^^

  36. Vinchester

Nice to meet you. I’ll be following Hataraku Maou so I’ll be reading your stuff so have fun and don’t be late submitting your posts! XD

    • Kairi

It’s nice to meet you too! I’ll try my utmost to get things in on time, though I’m still a college student and stuff happens. Still, I will work really hard!

  37. GlassShadow

The most amusing part about this congratulation/celebration/welcome party is watching Kairi trying to reply to every post. How cute is that?xDD Anyways, now that you are here I’ll be inclined to comment more and stalk less. But the only downside of this arrangement being now I have to stalk three separate sites: here, LiA and LoQ. Hah.

    • Kairi

Aw that’s mean Glass! xD Everyone takes the time to comment so it’s only courtesy to reply back! Is that so? Do you come out of your sheep’s clothing when surrounded by more people? ;p Haha, I’m looking forward to what you have to say, good luck splitting your stalking time! :3

      • GlassShadow

Yes, but if you do this for every post from now on, I doubt even you, the queen of writing 20 pieces of review in a day, can still revive yourself from fatigue. RC is a place packed with monster and bunnies alike……oh wait..or is it tigers and bunnies. You shower your love on the post that deserves it, like mine. LOL…Okay, I’m kidding, you are doing great Kairi. It’s just so nice to see you here that my neurons are firing off in all directions at once, ahha, hence the rambling.

      • Kairi

Well, that is true, but I do intend to reply to as much as I can. And I don’t write nearly that much you flatterer. xDDo I detect some jealousy? ;p No worries, you’re always welcome to some 1-on-1 discussion, Glass! Thanks so much for the support, and believe me, I’m incredibly excited too!

  38. thenewhorde

welcome aboard Kairi, hope to see some endearing blog entries from you soon. 🙂

    • Kairi

Hi, and thank you! I hope I’ll be able to write something satisfactory!

    • Kairi

      I’m sure that’s soon in coming. ._.

  39. Ryan Ashlight

You sound like quite the interesting ‘enthusiast,’ Kairi. I’ll be looking forward to reading your reviews. Also, happy to hear that you’ll be taking up Hataraku. Remember to have fun with it. ;>

    • Kairi

Hi! I don’t know about interesting, but I’m certainly enthusiastic! Hahaha. :3 Thanks, I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!No problem, if the rest of the series is as good as that premiere, I’m sure I’ll have a lot of fun!

  40. Isabel

Kairi, welcome aboard! I’ve read through your initial impression of Karneval on your blog, and I do like your writing style and thoughts. So, I’m looking forward to reading/following your posts for that and Hataraku as well, even though I may not comment. I wish you the best of luck writing here, and I look forward to when you decide to grace us with your presence in IRC. It’s always nice to see a fresh face in the channel. We can be buddies! 🙂

    • Kairi

Hi Isabel! Thanks for checking out LoQ, though I do hope you’ll keep in mind that it was 4 am when I wrote the Karneval impressions post! Still, I enjoyed it quite a bit, and I’m really flattered to hear that you enjoyed reading my post on it. Thank you so much, and I hope to see you around; I plan to try to figure out IRC soon!

  41. berrish17

Konnichiwa Kairi!!Your teacher let you guys watch Fullmetal Alchemist???Awesome.lol My English teacher (yes, ironic) let us watch “Spirited Away” cause she was a HUGE fan of anime (more probably of Ghibli)Anyways, Ive watched Karneval and love the artwork, so would be looking forward to the reviews =D lol no pressure. Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu!! (hope I spelled that right =p

    • Kairi

He did, and I’ll never thank him enough. That’s pretty awesome as well, I would have loved to watch Ghibli films in school; anime wasn’t normally a big thing in our school, but our teachers were very open about the kinds of things they exposed us to. I hope you’ll enjoy the coverage, I’ll do my best! You did! Yoroshiku! ^^

  42. ProfChaos

Glad someone is picking up Hataraku Maou-sama!Looking forward to your posts

    • Kairi

I’m happy to be picking it up! I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!

  43. mrShinobi

Wow, Kairi, your story is almost exactly like mines. I was also in the same childhood where my parents would weed out things deemed “bad” for me, manga and anime included. However, in 2006, once I got to touch computers for the first time, my life changed. Eureka Seven was also the first anime series I followed to the very end. Glad too see you come aboard, I look forward to reading your blogs 🙂

    • Kairi

It’s great to hear about someone who lived a similar experience! It was tough but it was worth it in the end, and I’m happy to hear you’ve seen Eureka Seven. It’s nice to meet you, and I hope to see you around! ^^

  44. cruiser2710

Just like the tides….. Writers in RC come and go. Such is the fate of a transient world.Welcome aboard Kairi. I look forward to your posts albeit they’re not the ones I’m watching at the moment. Frankly speaking, referring back to your early days of anime-hood… Ordinary people should stop dismissing anime as just mere “cartoons from Japan.” They got to look past the animation.

    • Kairi

Indeed, that is the case. Change is something that comes and repeats forever. Thanks, and that’s fine; there’s so much to look out for this season that it’s rather dizzying.Well, my parents banned me from watching anything they didn’t like, including plenty of television in English. I never watched cartoons in general unless they were ‘kid-friendly’ ones.

      • cruiser2710

My parents also controlled what I watched though they’re flexible about it.They still dismiss anime as kids cartoon though

      • Kairi

I see. My parents were pretty rigid, but they also think the same about anime. They think they’re silly and childish.

  45. Athrum

Got a question not just for Kairi (welcome btw 🙂 ) but also to the other bloggers from RC. Do any/some/all of you speak/write Japanese?

    • Kairi

Thanks. 🙂 I dunno about everyone but I know a few have mentioned that they know some. I’ll let them answer. As for me, I’m not exactly fluent; my conversation ability is quite bad, but my reading is pretty decent.

  46. Vaan

This is a surprise. Well considering your past comments, I should’ve expect you’llsoon join randomC and I’m really glad you join Kairi. Because the more writers the merrierand livelier, right?randomC lost two good writers but replaced by two new ones.I’m looking forward to your Hataraku blog post. 🙂

    • Kairi

It was hard not to let out the secret early, haha. I was so excited. It is really great to be here, and I’m looking forward to the experience.I hope you will enjoy them! Thanks for taking the time to say hello! ^^

  47. agr0n

Welcome aboard! It’s cool that FMA started it for you cause it started started the anime craze for me aswell. Although I watched Yu-gi-oh! and Pokemon as a kid it wasn’t until after I saw FMA that I knew those series were anime. You got to watch FMA in middleschool, you lucky f***er! Do you live in Japan, because that just seams unbelievable! Unless you were taking a Japanese class and you were watching it subbed to learn the language? Either way that’s awesome.

    • Kairi

Thanks! I got to see a little Pokemon behind my parents’ backs but never to the point where I knew what was going on. FMA was the defining experience of my entrance into anime, and it was a great one too.Nope, I live in the States. My music teacher just liked FMA. 🙂

      • agr0n

        So f***ing awesome!

      • sato

Haha, music class? That’s great! 🙂 But was it dubbed?

      • Kairi

It was dubbed, but when I finished watching it on my own I watched it subbed. =)

  48. Kioku from Laptop

“…considered translating the Shin Sekai Yori novels…”Doitdoitdoit! Also welcome to the party!

    • Kairi

I would love to, but there’s no point if they’re getting officially published sooner or later. If the project doesn’t go through, then I’m happy to do so at some point. And thanks! I’m looking forward to writing here!

      • There are already some fan translations here and here though (in case you don’t know).Anyway, I hope you the best with Hataraku Maou-sama 🙂

      • Kairi

Yes, I did hear about this just today! That’s great! Thanks for sharing; though I’ve read them in Japanese already, this does save me some work! Thanks, I’ll work hard! ^^

  49. Welcome! I look forward to reading your posts. 🙂

    • Kairi

I hope I can write something you’ll enjoy reading!

  50. Kira526

Welcome Kairi! I think it’s wonderful that your teacher decided to show your class Fullmetal Alchemist! I actually had a seventh grade teacher who introduced the Peach Girl manga to my best friend. FMA was also one of the first shows I got to experience as a kid. I happen to obsessively watch FMA: Brotherhood in the same way you watch Eureka Seven (which I’ve also watched more than once lol). I can’t wait to begin reading your blogs on both Hataraku Maou-sama and Karneval!

    • Kairi

Thank you Kira! Teachers can be an amazing source of all sorts of knowledge and experience if they care enough. I’ve seen FMA:B multiple times myself, actually! The manga is one of my favorites. I’m glad to hear you’ve seen Eureka Seven and liked it enough to watch it more than once! ^^ I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!

    • Kairi

Unfortunately Russian is not one of the languages I speak. Spanish and English work though.Oh and thanks!

    • Kaz

Kairi-san, wow, I like you already! Welcome to RC! 🙂

  51. Natsu

we’ll see how long you last buddy

    • Kairi

Well, seeing as I’ve been blogging full schedules for three months during midterms and finals, I’m hoping to stick around for as long as possible. 🙂

      • daikama

@Kairi Nice to have you on the team and hope you’re able to stick around for a long time. I’m watching Hataraku Maou-sama! so I’ll be following your coverage of that show (assuming you’re “new writer #2”).…when one of my teachers decided that it would be fun to watch the original Fullmetal Alchemist in class. All I can say is that your teacher was much cooler than any of mine. LOL. I’d be lucky to get some PBS documentary for in class viewing.FWIW, I took a look at your MAL list. Cant’ say I agree uniformly with your rankings but to each his/her own. I do, however, strongly suggest you put Hellsing OVA on you to watch list rather than the TV version. OVA follows the manga very closely and is much, much better than the TV version IMO.

      • Kairi

I’m so sorry, there’s so many comments I start losing my place! Please forgive my oversight.I’m also hoping to stick around, and I dearly hope you’ll enjoy the coverage on Maou-sama!He was quite laid back; we’d play whatever he felt like and we once had this crazy novel thing he made us all write together, it was hilarious. My rankings don’t really match up, I just pick numbers because I’m terrible at making decisions. As to Hellsing, the only reason the OVA isn’t there is because I like watching things in order, so I add the next thing in a series after I finish one, most of the time. However, your advice is noted.

  52. Jel

I’m interested to see how a writer that knows Japanese will respond to these series. Also, love FMA. One of my favorite series. It’s definitely something I go back to, and I liked Eureka Seven as well. Look forward to your posts, and thanks for dedicating your time to this wonderful site.

    • Kairi

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only writer here who has some Japanese under their belt! I still watch series subbed because of the extensive use of jargon, so it’s not that big of a deal. FMA is a really wonderful series, one I should probably go back and watch soon… haha. Thanks, I love keeping busy and discussing anime, and I hope I can bring you something satisfying to read!

      • Jel

I just don’t know who knows Japanese (fluently, not just a few words ya know) here at RC. Could you tell me who they are, just to know? If not, that’s fine too.I watch with subs too but I’m not so fluent yet lol. I can watch simple anime I guess but the more mature ones with more complex sentence structures and vocab are what I definitely need subs for. Just watch everything with subs to be safe lol.

      • Kairi

Well I don’t want to make a mistake, so it’d probably be best if you asked the other writers themselves. I do know that someone here is at my school, though only because Stilts-senpai mentioned it. I don’t know who it is, but if they are, they’re probably taking Japanese here.I watch Eureka Seven RAW, and I also have a section on my blog for watching series I’ve seen before RAW, but that’s because of the jargon problem all over again. My strength is in reading it, and I still need a huge dictionary for that because of the lack of kanji I know by memory. But yes, that’s pretty much what I do otherwise, haha.

      • agr0n

Did you watch FMA dubbed or subbed? The dubbed was great in my opinion.

      • Kairi

The first time I saw it dubbed, but afterwards all my subsequent viewings have been in Japanese with subtitles.

  53. Kitty

Omg! Hataraku Maou-sama! Love it! Glad someone is blogging this! Not that I don’t think you’ll do a good job but why is Cherrie-chan not covering Karneval?Welcome to the team~

    • Kairi

No problem, I’m happy to do so! Technically Karneval was Stereoman’s pick, but Cherrie took it over the week it premiered. Somehow it just ended up this way, sorry. >.

      • Kitty

        Okay~ I’m sure you’ll be amazing.Yoroshikune!

  54. Vad Deasduade

Welcome aboard Kairi! In light of recently losing two awesome writers, it helps lessen the blow to know that a new capable writer has appeared. Good Luck, I look forward to seeing your style of writing.

    • Kairi

Thank you, I’m glad to be here! I don’t know that I’m all that capable, but I’m always willing to work hard to make your read enjoyable!

  55. Zen

    Welcome to RC…:)

As to my tastes, I dont really have any; in general terms, I will watch any genre, and I base my judgments not on content, but on thematic analysis, execution, and simply how much fun I have watching something.

Well, finally someone else who doesn’t have any definitive genre preferences. A person after my own heart in a way; I think we’ll get along just fine- perhaps except for the fact that you’ll find that most all of my arguments for the “quality” or “thematic depth” of a certain show aren’t really any true “judgments” but rather sophistic constructs created solely for the reason of instigating argument which is literally as addictive as heroin to me. So please forgive this argument junkie if he accidentally manages to irk you with some controversial “opinion”- remember, it’s just the mad hallucinations of an addict chasing the dragon (of debate), it isn’t real…XP

    • Kairi

Thank you!I will literally watch anything. Comedy, Mecha, Ecchi, Action, Sci-fi, Romance, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Harems, etc. As long as there’s something there to make the series enjoyable, I’ll give it a go. That’s fine, I like arguing myself; I used to be on the debate team at my high school. Please excuse me if I ever go off; I get pretty passionate. So I completely understand. 😉

      • Zen

Lol, just realized that you replied to my welcome comment to Seishun as well, the one with the joke about “double pressure.” Of course I never realized nor even had a clue that you were the actually the second new blogger, what a wonderful surprise…so I’m doubly looking forward to being your (fake) frenemy (of facade passion) in debate…;)

      • Kairi

Well at the time I had no idea I’d be writing here! It was the day after that I got contacted. =) Haha, I’m looking forward to debating with you. :3

  56. Arcad

Nice to see ya on the team and I look forward to your work!!!

  57. Welcome to RC. Looking forward to your posts here. Our MAL compatibility is quite low but I approve of FMA. It’s one of my favorites as well.I haven’t watched E7 yet but I will…sometime…before I die XDDo drop by sometime on IRC as I hang out there sometimes but beware of people there, especially someone with the initials C-R-O-O-S ;)Oh and feel free to leave me a comment on MAL as well.So again, welcome and good luck. *bookmarks, explores and stalks your blog*

    • Kairi

Hello, thank you! I hope I can write something you’ll enjoy!Oh that’s a shame, but that’s fine! My MAL looks small because of all the reviewings I’ve done, but I have quite a lot of time in there. FMA is great, but I agree you should watch E7 at some point! =)I plan to drop by, though my schedule today is all hectic; I’m supposed to be writing a paper, but I can’t go away. >.< One of these days I will definitely join you guys!Noted, will do. 🙂 Thanks again! Though they're nothing special, I hope you enjoy reading my reviews here and on LoQ!

  58. BROOKLYN otaku

I’m sure someone already asked this…but theres too many posts to go through…anyway, WHO might i ask was this GOD-LIKE TEACHER whom in the 8th grade decided it would “be cool” to check out the original full metal alchemist “for whatever reason..i’d actually like to know”…..to the teacher…I SALUTE YOU!!! *actually saluted* and a salute to u as well Kairi..good luck

    • BROOKLYN otaku

just like to add *actually just realized” i know u wont give that persons name…but thats pretty NEAT yo !

    • Kairi

I would love to tell you, but I can’t for the life of me remember his name. D: It was such a long time ago. Thanks, I’ll do my best!

  59. random viewer

Yes recruit more people RC. With the old gone T_T, comes the new ^_^Gambatte ne ^.^ b

  60. Torami

Welcome! I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts on Karneval en Maou-sama. Ganbatte my friend 😉

    • Kairi

Thank you! I hope you’ll enjoy reading them! I’ll do my best! 🙂

  61. Kyosuke

Welcome Kairi! All the best going forward with RC! Please feel free to join us all on the IRC channel too!!!

    • Kairi

Thank you Kyosuke! I’ll gladly join you once I’ve figured out how to use it. =x

      • Kyosuke

See you on RC! We’ll have a warm welcome for you when you get things together! Trust me, it’s always fun times here on RC! 😀

      • Kairi

Thank you! I will definitely be around! I know! I’ve just always been so busy I rarely have the time to stop and say hello or give opinions. :0 Hopefully I’ll be able to do so now. ^^

  62. Mormegil

Welcome to the blog! I’ve actually been rewatching Eureka 7 on Toonami. It still holds up so well, and it’s been years since I’ve seen the show!

    • Kairi

Thank you! I’m glad you’re liking it a second time! It’s really pretty timeless!

  63. Geoff

Looking forward to the stories you bring, have fun ^^

    • Kairi

Thank you for your support! I’ll do my best!

  64. katsudon

Welcome to randomc! Really excited that Maou-sama has a writer, I really liked the pilot and hope it doesn’t end up as a generic romantic comedy.

    • Kairi

Thank you! Well, I think that as long as the style of humor is consistent, it would be funny regardless of what type of show it ends up being.

  65. Dunn

Welcome on board Kairi! Happy to see you fulfilling a dream. :)Will definitely be reading your entries in the near future.(Wonder what quirks you’ll bring to RC, we have quite a group of bloggers here… Heh)

    • Kairi

Thanks, glad to be on board. ^^Thank you, it means a lot! I hope you’ll enjoy reading! Hmm, I dunno about quirks, but I suppose we’ll find out how I fit in soon.

  66. Kairoru

Another new writer! Welcome to the crew Kairi. Can’t wait for your reviews. Hopefully we all can get along with you. ^^

    • Kairi

Thank you! I’ll do my best to write cohesively and entertainingly! … I love adverbs, haha. Feel free to talk to me at any time. ^^

  67. Haseo

Welcome Kairi it’s always nice to have comrades who share my obsessive love of Eureka 7.

    • Kairi

Yay, a comrade! “Don’t ask for things, get them yourself, else nothing will be given you”Thanks!

  68. cruiser2710

@ Stilts – So would there be anyone covering anime OSTs?

    • Stilts

Probably not. Kairi isn’t a replacement for Moomba or Stereo, nor is Seishun, or anyone else – she, and they, are their own bloggers. Alas, that is probably the end of the OST posts, but I’m sure all our new writers will bring new unique voices to the site! Look forward to it ; )

      • Kairi

Not that I disagree in the least, but no one is covering Kami Nomi anymore, are they? I don’t mind taking that up, it’s a guilty pleasure of mine.

      • zeroyuki92

What? You will pick over Kaminomi? Really? *puppyeyes*I’ll be extremely grateful if you do that… Just don’t overwork yourself, though! (Well, you managed to do a lot of reviews by your own in your own blog though, so I think you must have developed a great time managing skill >__<)

      • Kairi

I don’t mind doing it if no one else minds me taking it up. Kaminomi is a series I have a lot of fun with. Thank you for your concern, but manga chapters are infinitely easier to handle than episodes!

  69. Zhinvu

Hi and Welcome! Gotta say that is one cool grade school teacher you had there. Reminds me of the one time in college that we watched Jin-Roh the Wolf Brigade as part of our lessons. And the love for Eureka Seven is strong in here, and that’s a good thing. Gotta say too you can’t talk about Eureka without mentioning the music. It’s one of those series where I love all the opening and ending songs of the first season + Storywriter (I still need to finish AO), and DAYS and Braveblue are constantly in my playslist til now.

    • Kairi

Hello, thank you! He was quite amazing, but most of my school teachers were in one way or another. That’s pretty cool; we’re reading manga from the 70s in my Lit class this semester, which is cool. The music in E7 is fantastic no matter which series you’re talking about. I learned Days and Sakura on the guitar and I sing Taiyou no Mannaka he all the time when I’m not paying attention. xD It’s nice to meet you! I hope you enjoy AO!

  70. Kairi, you should make a script that replies hello everytime they post.its been 8 hours already.

    • Kairi

I know, but I really believe that it’s only nice to answer when someone comments. Small blog habit, I know, but I can’t help it.

      • daikama

I know, but I really believe that its only nice to answer when someone comments. Small blog habit, I know, but I cant help it.:3 *feels left out given earlier reply

      • Kairi

I’m sorry, did I skip you by accident? D: Hold on just a second.

    • Kyosuke

Honestly, Kairi should receive a medal for that kind of perseverance and devotion! Can’t believe you’re still at it hahahaha. ok going to bed now…

      • Kairi

Not at all, it’s just that if someone takes the time to comment, I feel like I should do the same. It feels bad when no one answers you, after all. But I may have to call it a night soon.

      • Kyosuke

*hands fictional medal to Kairi and then dozes off to dream land*

  71. HakumeiJin

Welcome Kairi. It’s incredible that you’re still here and answering. I checked out your blog and I have to say I’m looking forward to seeing your writing here as well. (Though it’s worrying that if I like your writing too much that’ll be another blog sucking up my time)

    • Kairi

Hi there! It’s no big deal, it’s the least I can do for all of you who were nice enough to express support! Thank you so much, I’ll try to do my utmost to write interesting posts. It’s okay if you don’t want to be on LoQ! It doesn’t hurt my feelings in the least; I’m just happy you took a look at all. ^^ We’re all busy after all.

  72. Kairi

Okay everyone, I’ll reply to anyone I’ve missed tomorrow, but I do have a paper to write and some homework to do so I must be off. Thank you all so much for your support, I hope to see you around soon!

  73. yeahair

Saw your comments these last days and really thought that they were well written and that you might be a good addition to the team. Glad to see, that’s exactly how it turned out. Welcome.

    • Kairi

Thank you for the kind thought, though I’m really nothing special. I hope I can write something you’ll enjoy reading!

  74. Meldoy

Welcome to RC! I’m so happy to hear that you’re covering Hataraku Maou-sama; it’s one of my favorite shows so far 🙂

    • Kairi

Hi Meldoy! I’m really sorry I missed you earlier. ): Thanks so much for the support, and I’m working on Maou-sama right now. I hope you enjoy reading it!

  75. See guys!! This new writer here cares every bit of comment you guys throw. And for the record, She’s still doing it for the past 10 hours already.Give her a round of a……. more comments I guess.

    • Kairi

Haha. Well, I wish I could do this for every post like I normally would, but clearly this isn’t going to be as feasible here. >.< However, I will answer everything I can here, since everyone is being so nice and voicing their support! It's not so bad, it's just returning the favor for the time you all put in. ^^

  76. MgMaster

You can’t help but have this great & hopefull feeling when you see new enthusiastic writers joining in after being a bit worried about RC’s future with 3 good writers gone. Will check your blog a lil’as so you’d better be gratefull! It’s not like I’m curious of your writing style and looking forward to your posts or anything…Also: WELCOME!

    • Kairi

I’m really sad to see those writers go as well. ): I was looking forward to working with Moomba-senpai and Stereoman-senpai, but I’m happy they’re both happy with their decision.I’m humbly grateful that you would take a look!Thank you!

  77. Ohh, nice, someone who loves Eureka Seven! Good luck! (especially if you’re gonna reply to every comment x_x)

    • Kairi

My love may not be all that healthy, but hey, I have fun, haha. Thank you so much! I will do my best, even if it’s just to finish replying!

  78. pokpok

another *cough* slave *cough* just kindding /comrade has appeared , we welcome U all with love!

    • Kairi

Well, when you’re tired writing can feel a tiny bit like slave-work, but I love doing it so much I don’t care, haha. Thank you, I hope to enjoy my time here with you all!

  79. mac65

While I still have doubts as to my ability, I somehow worked up the courage to go for it, …

With constructs and articulation skills like that, IMHO have no doubts as to your ability. However, one very serious consideration remains to be explored — and this is crucial to your success, nay, but the entire life of RC itself ⇒              How are you at ecchi?Welcome aboard!

    • Kairi

I’m just overly flowery is all, you’ll notice my obsession with adverbs shortly. >.

  80. MasterDragonKnight

Impressive that you are replying to every single comment on your introduction.I was originally not going to bother you with more comments, but I thought it would be rude not to properly welcome you.Nice to meet you, Kairi. Welcome to the writer team. As I told Seishun, my comments tend to be joking or sarcastic to lighten the mood, but sometimes I leave words of wisdom when necessary. You are not Moomba or Stereoman, so there is no need to try to live up to what they left behind. Just be yourself, and I wish you success here and in all your endeavors.

    • Kairi

Unfortunately that won’t be feasible in other posts, so I at least wanted to extend the small community touch in my intro! Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate them. I might be overly serious about 90% of the time myself, but you do indeed seem to have some good things to say! I look forward to seeing you around!

  81. Babu

Welcome on board, soldier! and congratulations on your position !

    • Kairi

Thank you, I am very glad to be here!

  82. sealouse

Hey based on that introduction I’m sure you’ll do just fine here. Welcome.

  83. kanade

For someone who has been reading RC’s blog for many years, I’m glad to see new writers joining the community. Looking forward to your writings for Maousama.

    • Kairi

Thank you, I hope I can meet your expectations, or at the very least, write something you’ll enjoy!

  84. KingofConquerors

Welcome to RC Kairi. Your presence is a relief since Maou-sama’s first episode was impressive and leaving it unblogged will be a major waste. Hope we’ll have a good time discussing ’bout multifarious series.I hope your blogging of Karneval can have me sold on the series as well. I’m still not entirely convinced about it actually.

    • Kairi

Thank you, I’m happy to take Maou-sama! on, it was a great premiere. I’m always up for some serious discussion. 🙂 I suppose we’ll find out if the series is worth following soon, though I’m still a little anxious to see where it will go in 12 episodes myself.

  85. Germanguy

Welcomme to RC, hope you Enjoy your Stay and will find new Friends

    • Germanguy

Looks like we Busted RC Comment section 🙂

      • Kairi

Thank you, I’m sure I’ll enjoy my time here!It does indeed look like we have. :0 That makes it very difficult for me to find comments I haven’t answered yet, unfortunately. ):

      • Xumbra

And it looks like we fixed it :PFYI: Guys, make sure you properly close your HTML tags.

      • Germanguy

@KairiEasy, we dont expect from the Start an Master Bloging of your First Anime here. With Time surly you will get the Gist here how to Write and what move us. And looks like the other Writers here support you with their Experience. Nice. Hope you will enjoy you Stay, and you get a good Time here. Btw, dont catch some Troll Baits here and there. With Time even you will see how you can count on for a good discussing and other good things. Gambata-ne Kairi-sanand as you can read, my English is also not flawless. But i hope it enough to understand my gist. p.s. if i would make my own MAL Profile.. i think i would busting it.. “Future Boy Conan” was my first Anime.. and there i was 8 Years Old…Btw, how is Omni doing? Is he well? have he cured his “Hole” in his lungs?

      • Kairi

That’s sound advice, thank you! I hope to learn much from my senpai and also to improve so you can all have great stuff to read! It’s just been a while since I’ve dealt with trolls so I’m forgetting which ones are just being difficult. I’m planning to slow down with the replies today so I’ll hopefully be better about it.That’s fine, English isn’t my first language either, so occasionally I make some bad slip ups. I understand just fine, thanks for taking the time to write me!That is a lot of anime! I wish I’d been allowed to watch more since I was little. :0Unfortunately I don’t know Omni, so I couldn’t say.

      • Germanguy

Hehe thank you. If i can give you an Hit… Click on my Avatar here, and follow the “suki” :)It was there where i first meet Omni… Well enough now 🙂

  86. Kaz

Wow! A new writer! Kairi-san, I like you already! Welcome to RC! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • Kairi

Hi Kaz! Thank you, I hope you’ll enjoy reading what I can offer!

      • Kaz

just saw your blog and I like your writing style. i gez ill be visiting your site more often now, aside from here. :)anyway, have u watched the first Eureka series?i haven’t finished watching Eureka 7 but I’m planning to do a marathon on it. ^^,

      • Kairi

I’m glad you enjoyed it, though it’s not much. I have seen Eureka Seven, as I pointed out, 34 times. I’ve seen AO about 8 times. You should, it’s really great! ^^

      • Kaz

whoa, i just re-read my comment and after a long, long look, i realized that i made a big mistake, (i gez, due to lack of sleep and stress) i said “first eureka series”, got confused there, but what i mean is, (though you’ve just answered d question) if u have watched the “2nd” one, AO. im planning to do a marathon on that one, while I have watched the whole first E7 back then, though just thrice… ^^, can’t top yours. 34! You’re awesome! *salutes <(^^,)my epic fail comment. facepalms… kinda embarrasing… ahaha… Orz

      • Kairi

Haha, no problem, I was a bit confused too. Yes, I’ve seen it a pretty scary amount of times, and AO too. ;o Hope you enjoy it when you get through it!

  87. creaothceann

    …you dropped Lucky Star?!

    • Kairi

Ah, gomen. I did. I just didn’t have a lot of fun with it, the comedy didn’t quite work for me.

  88. Taiyo

I see you like the Ginga Bishounen.

    • Kairi

I haven’t finished SD yet so I can’t say with absolute certainty, but Bones went so over the top with that one it’s impossible not to have fun with how ridiculous it is. =p

    • Kairi

Dunno what that means, but hi anyway!

      • Germanguy

        0 = Head/ = an ArmI think he means a Greeting

      • Xumbra

It’s a guy waving his hand. I always use this as a greeting on IRC.Speaking of which, you can visit IRC here. Alternatively, you can find the link right under the Announcements section, in the top right-hand corner of the page.

      • Kairi

Ohhh! That makes sense. xD Sorry, haha. Hi! =)Thank you very much, I’ll be sure to check it out later but I have a seven hour day starting in an hour.

    • Kairi

Now you guys are just being difficult. =p

  89. Misk

Hi there, welcome 🙂 No need to doubt, I’m sure your posts will be awesome ;o

    • Kairi

Hello, thank you! I will do my best. ^^

  90. Zen

Comments section broke the 300 mark. ~1/2 written by one person- Jeeesus…that’s dedication…

    • Kairi

I know I probably seem stupid or ridiculous, but I just feel bad if I don’t answer everyone. I won’t be able to do this on normal posts, so just once it’s nice to try to be like the small-community I’m used to.

      • junglepenguin

Meaning that you’ll be trapped here forever if we come up with a roster to continuously post on this! Muahahaha!

      • Zen

Nah, it’s not stupid, it’s good PR- in spite of what anyone says first impressions matter immensely, after all. And I guess you just love people- how is that ever a bad thing?…;)

    • Kairi

It does look like I’ll be stuck here forever… haha.Well I just don’t want to leave anyone out. I don’t know that I love people, but I try to be nice, since I don’t like being treated badly.

  91. junglepenguin

Yikes, 300 comments and counting. Someone’s getting pretty popular.I’m ready to be blown away. Lets see what you can do!

    • Kairi

Unfortunately not, I’m afraid I’m the one commenting like mad!I’ll work hard, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading what I have to offer!

  92. Germanguy

@KairiDont forget your Work!!! 🙂 We can Wait. But your Boss surly not

  93. d-LaN

Didn’t visit RC for a while, then a new writer pops up& this thread exploded. Hi anyway. Welcome to RC, Kairi! If you can live through croos & cyber harassment tease, then you are fit to be a RC writer XD Lol Seishun didn’t scare you away? :P/super late to the party

    • Kairi

Hello, thanks! Haha, well, I’ve dealt with worse. xD He hasn’t bothered me at all, though everyone seems to think it’s a matter of time…?

  94. From an old writer to a new writer:Welcome to the family. (:

    • Thank you Takaii-senpai! I’m ecstatic to join!

    • Kairi, remember, Takaii is not your sempai but you can call him Takaii-ojisan. >:D

  95. Scullycat

Congrats Kairi and I look forward to your posts. Dont worry about pleasing us or the quality of your posts (which I can already see are pretty great) we are just happy you have joined!

    • Thank you! I’ll write what comes to mind, but I do hope you’ll enjoy them!

  96. Shadow74

    • Thanks, I hope you’ll enjoy it this week!

  97. Congratulations! I’ll definitely be looking forward to your coverage on Karneval and Maou-sama, so best of luck with your RC blogging experience! 🙂

    • Thank you very much! I hope you’ll enjoy reading coverage on both series!

  98. no381

Good to see new writers with new views on this site! I’m sure everyone is happy to have you!I’m also excited to see someone’s covering Maou-sama. 😉

    • Kairi

Thank you, I’m really happy to be here! I hope you’ll have fun following the Hataraku posts every week!

  99. Reaper201

Another new writer for the crew, it’s always nice to see new writers. Well welcome to RC, I look forward to see you blog Maou!

    • Kairi

Thanks! I hope you’ll enjoy reading about it!

  100. Don’t come around here often anymore, but wanted to say hello and wish you the best of luck. Also, if there’s anything you need help with, let me know – I offered to help Seishun too but he denied me =P

    • Kairi

Hi verdant! Thanks a ton, but I think I’ll be okay for now! ^^

  101. Pot Noodle

Greetings Kairi, and my what a flood of responses you’ve had already!Always happy to see a new writer aboard. I don’t usually comment here much unless I find something that absolutely demands my attention, but I usually find myself dropping by most days to check out anything new. I just tend to find a nice quiet corner to sit and watch the world go by.I’ve been pleasantly surprised so far by the two shows you’re picking up, so I’m looking forward to reading what your thoughts on them. If this first introductory post is anything to go by I think we’re in for a treat!

    • Kairi

Hello! It’s not much, it’s mostly me replying I’m afraid. In that case, thank you so much for taking the time to drop by and say hello, I really appreciate it!I hope you’ll enjoy the coverage on both!

  102. Nemo

Welcome to RC! I am looking forward to reading your posts 🙂 Your posts already seem like they will be great. Glad to see that someone is picking up Maou-sama too. Also, you had an awesome music teacher ;o

    • Kairi

Hello! I hope you’ll enjoy them! I did have an awesome music teacher! I just wish I remembered his name, haha.

  103. Welcome, Kairi! I’m already starting to like you simply by your title name. Ganbare!Hopefully you had a nice helping of KASUU-DOOM to help kick off Hataraku Maou-sama. 🙂

    • Kairi

Thank you! It’s a name with lots of history, though I don’t remember it all!I did like my Katsu dooooom xD

  104. Asobi

And with these last two weeks suddenly I won’t be that last writer on the about page!Welcome aboard Kairi (And Seishun as well if you see this, sorry I missed your intro post)! Hope you two enjoy your time here! I’ll get around back onto the irc someday soon and do some proper greetings then. 😉

    • Kairi

Haha, hello Asobi-senpai! I’m happy to be working alongside you from now on!Thank you! I’m now attempting to figure out irc so I’ll be around! ^^

  105. Diyedas

Well hello there, Kairi. I’ll just say this, from you MAL list alone I think I’m gonna like you as a blogger. I agree with a lot of the scores you made. I also see a commonality in our experiences with discovering anime. Well, kinda. Both FMA and Eureka Seven changed my life, although differently from yours. They’re still two of my favorite anime series. I’ll always be grateful for FMA introducing me to anime and Eureka Seven for inspiring me as a writer.

    • Kairi

Hi Diyedas! I’m glad to hear you feel similarly about FMA and E7! They’re both wonderful shows and ones I love watching even now. I’m really happy to hear they had a strong impact on you as well!

  106. grey

What an awesome teacher you had! Welcome to RC 😀

  107. info600

Nice to meet you see a new face here.Just wondering, what do you think of Fullmetal Alchemist? How about FMA:B?

    • Kairi

It’s nice to be here! I love both FMA’s, though FMA:B has the better action. 🙂

  108. RifuloftheWest

Hello Kairi. I look forward to following your coverage of the various shows. Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. The story about your teacher was very cool. I was reminded about during a project I had in highschool where I used a few excerpts from Akira and had subsequently generated interest in anime among some of my classmates. Anime just seems to have “that” mysterious quality =).

    • Kairi

Hi, I hope you’ll have fun reading them every week! That’s wonderful! I love hearing about art affecting people’s lives. It’s what makes it such a powerful medium no matter what kind it is!

  109. Kasai

Hey! I don’t comment often but I just wanted to say welcome to RC! And good luck! I look forward to reading your blogs. 🙂

    • Kairi

Thank you so much! I hope you’ll enjoy reading them!

    • Kairi

I’m on to you, and no, I’m not answering any more just so you can see how long I’ll keep it up. xD

  111. Ana

Yay, I’m excited to hear what you have to say because I know you’re a Kaori Ozaki fan from your other blog, and thus have impeccable taste. Can’t wait to read your reviews!

    • Kairi

Hi Ana! I love Ozaki Kaori! Eureka Seven is my favorite anime, but Immortal Rain is my favorite manga. I’ve read it a zillion times too! I hope to see you around, and thanks so much for your support!

  112. waystland

Eureka Seven holds a special place in my heart. Looking forward to your posts!

    • Hello!I’m really glad to hear you feel similarly about Eureka Seven, it’s always wonderful to find a comrade! Thank you, I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy reading them!

      • Zen

Lol, still going for that perfect reply record, huh? In that case, I’ll help you out- you missed someone on the previous page, a user going by the name of “Meldoy” (Ctrl+F)…XP

  113. E.

Do your best! Looking forward to your reviews, I won’t be watching those shows but I can do it if you convince me with your posts haha, I didn’t say this with bad intention though.Congratulations!

    • Thank you so much! Love the Poketto ga Niji de Ippai avatar, by the way. :3 I’ll do my best, haha.

  114. DangerMouse

Congratulations!Excited for both shows you’re covering so I’m looking forward to your reviews of the eps!Huge fan of E7 and scifi in general. E7 was such a special show and I will always love how they fully took advantage of all of the benefits of their 50 ep run. Watching it yet again on Toonami.

    • Kairi

Thank you!I’m glad to hear you’re excited, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading them. =)It’s really a wonderful experience of a series, and though I no longer watch it dubbed, I can appreciate that it was done well and that having it on Toonami exposes more people to it. Really happy to hear from a fellow fan. =) I do E7 reviews on my blog, though I haven’t had the time to do so recently. I’m hoping to have a new one up this week, if all goes well.

  115. Syouke

Welcome Kairi! Do your best and I will look forward to your writing :). PS: I love the name Kairi! Also, you must thanks the original creator of this website which was Omni!

  116. With havin so much content and articles do you ever run into any problems of plagorism or copyright infringement? My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but it seems a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my permission. Do you know any solutions to help protect against content from being stolen? I’d certainly appreciate it.|
